I know nothing about glass hauling either. Most of not all of the glass trailers I've seen are specialized double drop trailers with a built-in rack down the center. Looks like all that can be hauled with those is glass or maybe granite panels. You either run loaded or empty to the nearest glass plant. Many trailers have a built-jin ladder/platform to aid in tarpping and strapping. The tarps are fitted and probably easily lowered with a crane or lift truck. No climbing around on top of load rolling out tarps. All in in all it looks like an easy job, at least from a distance. Being close to two glass factories could be an advantage for you once you get some experience. Something to consider.

Hauling 40,000 + pounds of glass on a double drop has got to handle better than a single 40,000 pound coil on a flat.

What you just said was pretty much what got me looking into it. Looks different enough to be something new but not quite as all out scary looking as being a straight up skateboarder.

My Freightliner Sprinter is a 2011...3.0L V6 Diesel so fortunately the OEM German Parts I ordered from Europarts below (already on their way to me-YEAH!) will fit on my Vehicle. Excited to get the old removed, new installed plus I checked my front brake pads and they're due (rear were fine). Already have the Pads here waiting. I'll do my oil/oil filter change this month as well my engine and cabin air filters I keep in stock here. Bought several cases of ESP Mobil 1 Oil for $5.99 at Napa this Month so I'm good for the rest of '15.

Take your time, do your homework. Check out thetruckersreport.com to get some insight, and find a company that'll work for you, as well as you working for it. The reason those big ugly companies get so many rookies is due to them not doing their homework.

I've heard Maverick is a fine company. I've also heard flatbed is a pain in the butt. I was that close to getting into it myself. If you're going that way, tho, make sure you find a company that compensates you well for tarping.

The family went to the Oakland County Fair a couple months back. That started a love affair with carny rides, that my daughter and I got to expand upon at Michigan Adventure last month. If you've never gone on the Ripcord, I recommend it. What a RUSH!!!

Snagged one...IF double the Loaded Miles I'd be elated. I'm okay with 250 though for a Tuesday morning after Labor Day. Picks up in S. Mich., delivers Batavia. Ya, you know the place. Good ole Charles will unload me. I told him just a couple weeks ago..."Next time I deliver here, you better be gone, retired, enjoying your woodworking, planing and that new house n shop!" He'll be there today God Bless him!

You probably shouldn't mention a ride like the Ripcord in a thread that also deals with tarpping and strapping flatbed loads. I had a mental image of Kickstarter falling off the top of a lumber load while holding onto the loose end of a strap.
