Interesting. What is your source?
I've seen them, too.
Here's one: 94% against A&E Was A&E Right to Suspend Duck Dynasty?s Phil Robertson? [POLL]

Here's another one: 92% in favor of Phil Phil Robertson Suspended for Remarks - Tell Us What You Think [POLL]

I agree with the polls. I think A&E pulled the trigger far too quickly, same as everyone did with Paula Dean. Political correctness has gone too far. I haven't even read where anyone was calling for a boycott or anything. What are they worried about?

Unrelated to OP, but regarding Duck's merchandising, which includes everything I could possibly image seeing until the other day when I saw underwear. Wow Really? That's something I would never have thought of or wanted  :p

Have you ever been on the opposing end of the opinion of the thought police of the gay agenda? Or any liberal agenda, for that matter? You won't be considered a free thinker either... just a nazi.

There are some family members who are liberal, and they disagree with my support for gun ownership, but nobody considers the other side a 'nazi'. I don't carry guns into their homes, and they don't try to take mine away. That's how it works.

I'm wondering what the response would be if the quotes were on a different subject, say, stoning women? He could have picked a lot of quotes & beliefs from the Bible that people would get upset with, so I don't think political correctness is the problem.

Probably wouldn't go over to well. Let's however change it( I heard this on Rush Limbaugh's show) to someone speaking out against traditional marriage and using the same language as Robertson used,. Would there be a firing for that?

So far,one of their big sponsors isn't going away.
Skyjacker (truck suspensions) isn't going away, either. They're a Christian-based company, anyway, so there would be no reason for them to abandon the show.

One of the more interesting things about all this is the call for the boycott that has come about. And it's not a call to boycott the show's sponsors, but rather a boycott of the entire network unless and until Phil is brought back. The “Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson Is Put Back On Duck Dynasty” Facebook page got 1.3 million "Likes" in its first 30 hours. There's a petition, too. People are recognizing the dangers of knee-jerk censorship, and the dangers of small special interest groups being able to dictate what is and is not acceptable. Rural "reality" shows tend to lean to the right, anyway, so why A&E is shocked to learn a Bible thumper actually speaks Bible Thump is beyond me. It's not like the Duck Dynasty folks ever pretended on the show they weren't Christians. But whether you agree with what he said or not, people recognize bullying and injustice when they see it, and that's what they see in A&E's actions on this.

Family members (The Robertson Family Offical Statement) are considering withdrawing from the series over A&E's suspension of Robertson.

Everybody is talking about this now. I heard Obama is calling a press conference on for this afternoon to denounce Phil. He was overheard practicing his best MLK cadence this morning.

Kinda my take. In the grand scheme of things, probably jumped a little too fast.

............and the Latest:

'Duck Dynasty': Inside the decision to suspend Phil Robertson - MSN TV News

So..........this One Ladies "Decision" came to fruition over just 1 Sentence / Opinion good 'ole Phil expressed.....

.....and ultimately decided his comparison of homosexuality to bestiality was over the line......

......because Robertson's remarks were in conflict with "the fundamental values of the company." Dubuc was responding in part to the concern of employees within the company, the executive said.

And then she admitted to coming to this decision after hearing from just ONE GROUP that complained about his "Words / Opinion"........

The decision to suspend Robertson came Wednesday night, hours after an early-morning phone call between A&E executives and GLAAD, the civil rights group told TheWrap. A GLAAD spokesman would not say which executives were on the call.

Now that a Little More about what all this Lady is "In Control" of has been brought forth / revealed.........Hopefully this Knee Jerk / Trying to be "Politically Correct" decision that is about to cost A&E millions in Advertising Revenue........as well as Viewers.........will also Negatively Effect the other Channels she is in Charge of and has Influence Over also.

Dubuc is one of the most powerful television executives in Hollywood, overseeing A&E, Lifetime and History channels. Her dynasty is powered largely by "Duck Dynasty," the highest-rated reality show on the air.

Phil Robertson will go down in History as an Influential Figure that helped spark a Revolution towards the Anti-American Progressives that were Hell Bent on changing America as a Whole during this Obawas Administration Regime.........one of which is Destroying America and American Values as a whole...........and this Ms Dubuc will pass away a Lonely Death in some Welfare supported Nursing Home only known as the Poor Little Old Lady who once had the World at Her Fingertips........but made the wrong decision at the wrong time in Americas History. (I Highly Highly DOUBT her "Reign of Power" is going to last much longer after this Personal Opinion Fiasco)

Let him do his own research......................

Yes...there are Polls with these same results all over the Internet. I looked around myself.......just as Turtle did..........after my HomePage......MSN.com.......a VERY LIBERAL web entity........had a Poll that showed an 87% Result IN SUPPORT of Phil's Opinion.

.............and I'm having trouble understanding this:

'Duck Dynasty' family releases statement - MSN TV News

......if Robertson’s contract contained a morals clause — as if often the case with on-air talent — than the reality TV star has little in the way of legal recourse.

My guess is that they [suspended Robertson] on the basis of a morality clause,” one entertainment attorney told TheWrap on Wednesday. “Once you sign a reality show contract, they own you.”

“It doesn’t sound like they were taking him off the show because they don’t like the fact that his message is religious; I think they don’t like the fact that his message is anti-gay,”

So......should there be MANY definitions of "Morals" included in any and ALL "Contracts" from here on out??? "MY" Morals probably vary from many others here on this board in itself.........Should Lawrence have the right to propagate his "Morals" over mine just because has the "Right" too since he owns this Discussion Board??? :)

This should take this to a whole other level of discussion.........;)

One "Comment" down below that article above said it all:

...so defending morals, gets you fired by the morality clause, is that what you just said?

Do What?????

Can't say that "Stoning Women" has much of an issue here in America for say..........Oh.......What.....12 Years Now?? (Note Hint of Sarcasm.........:p)

To think that "This Decision" of trying to Stifle a LOVED American Icon in the Entertainment Industry was not done in the Vain of Political Correctness is absolutely.............well............Ignorant.

Seems to be a pattern. Speak out about your religous beliefs AND offend the gay community, you will lose your job. Similar to the sports commentator Craig James firing.

Try not to bring ANY of that Worthless "James" Family into this discussion...........OK.

Fox Disputes Craig James? Claim That He Was Fired for Religious Views | Variety

Craig James was fired for being Craig James......and That's Just about all there is to it.

Phil Robertson is LOVED by the Majority of Americans.........

After what Craig James was involved in with the SMU Football Program in the 80's.....which led to it's Death Period.....and then him and his son Destroying a National Ranked Football Team in the 2000's............Craig James is HATED by the Majority of America.

Not even worth comparing the two...................................

You are gonna sign a contract with a morals clause if you are in television entertainment, any kind of performing, advertising (Lance Armstrong lost his endorsement deals because of a morals clause). No way around that. If a performer's reputation is tarnished and becomes toxic or they become infamous, they'll lose their deal. A typical section of a morals clause will prohibit the performer from "engaging in actions that would "shock, insult, or offend the majority of the consuming public." Morals clauses are based on the fundamental principles of ethical conduct rather than on the lawfulness of an act, so even something perfectly legal can still cost you dearly. But Phil likely wasn't canned because of a morals clause, they can can him for any reason that causes the network (or the owner of the production) to be damaged or lose money, whether it's morals related or not. If you tick off any influential community, i.e., customers, they're gonna part ways with you.

Great Explanation...........

But................

Totally Opposite of what is / has happened in this case.

So Far........Backlash is exactly the opposite of this................

And...

.....they can can him for any reason that causes the network (or the owner of the production) to be damaged or lose money, whether it's morals related or not. If you tick off any influential community, i.e., customers, they're gonna part ways with you.

So Far...........all fingers are pointing to a Decision made by 1 Person who was trying to satisfy a complaint from 1 Group that represents a very very very very very small % of the population of America as a whole............

Which is why it's unlikely that he was fired on the basis of a morals clause.

Decisions like these are usually made by one person, whoever is in charge.

Martin Bashir said something ugly about Sarah Palin. Was MSNBC right in firing him?

I don't know. Was his remarks, who ever he is, directed at an individual? Phil's remarks, whether you like them or not, were based on his beliefs about groups, not individuals. They are based, rightly or wrongly, on religious beliefs. What were this Bashir dudes remarks based on? What did he say?
