I know a few homosexuals, and Mr Robertson is not just appallingly ignorant, he is as wrong as any human ever has been, or could be.

It all boils down to this.............

You just stated an "Opinion"........YOUR Belief towards Phil Robertson's Beliefs towards Homosexuality...............

................and I am not about to chastise you over your opinion.......same as the Gay & Lesbian Community (1-2% of our population) should not chastise Phil over his. I may tease you about it to hassle you a bit..........cause you're so easy to get all Ignorant over stuff...........but I will at least allow you to air your opinion..........just as Phil openly aired his.

Phil will go down in history as an influential person......

Gag me with a spoon !

Maybe in the backwoods.

Five years from now walk down the street of any large American City and ask about Phil and you'll get " Didn't he pitch for the Mets in the 60's ? Or was it the Cubs ? "

To me, the most amazing thing about Phil is that he was a great college quarterback at Louisiana Tech back in the 60's. Terry Bradshaw was his back up!

The SOP for Bible thumpers is close-mindedness: they believe what they believe, end of discussion, you can't change their mind, because they're right, the Bible tells them so, and they aren't receptive to new or contradicting ideas and positions. They have no need for free thinking, because the Bible tells them what to think. Plus, one doesn't need to judge or assume how he came to those conclusions - he tells you right there in his own words.

His comments are right out of the Christian Right Bible Thumper Playbook, which indicates zero free thinking. And if there's any doubt, his own words, where he badly quotes Corinthians, cement that fact. No original thought whatsoever. It's one hundred percent straight down the party line.: "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers, they won't inherit the kingdom of God. ... Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."
There's also this Robertson quote about two paragraphs later in the GQ article/interview:
“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

Yeah, I know. Again, straight out of the playbook. First they matter-of-factly judge them, "...they won't inherit the kingdom of God. ..." then they emphatically say they don't judge them, "We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell."

Matthew 7:1-3

King James Version (KJV)

7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Lol! Not trying to belittle the Scripture but I read your posts.... You could take something away from this one too...

Cracker Barrel is becoming a real profile in courage(not) by deciding to pull some Duck Dynasty merchandise from display or marking down prices on DD merchandise for quick sale. Splitting the baby in half leaves no one satisfied. My wife and I will reevaluate our patronage at Cracker Barrel.

Phil Robertson's comments were in response to a question regarding sin, and he offered his opinion based on quotes from the book of Corinthians. It seems to me he then made it clear that the final decision on one's destination in the hereafter is left up to the Almighty, regardless of what he or anyone else thinks.

The purpose of this forum is to provide a place for people to offer their opinions. If that sometimes appears to be judgmental, so be it.

Yeah, it's really silly to not want to associate your company with someone who makes racist comments about blacks.

I understood Phil Robertson's GQ interview comments to be that he personally never saw a black person be mistreated.

I suppose since the fake outrage by GLAAD isn't working, detractors will now throw down the race card. Strange bedfellows doubling down for the cause.
