This is a hot one, but did the Pebble Beach to Malibu before. However, thinking about seeing the Tar Pits for the first timeView attachment 16342

TAR PITS...
Is that another name for too much mud, for scaring people off?
If they knew you were coming they'd name them fire pits (but I bet you'd still go through it)

Greetings from world famous Elizabethtown Ky...... (don't know what it's famous for).

I mentioned Turtles name at the hotel front desk...... they charged me double. :D
Tomorrow Nashville, TN for some sightseeing, then to Clanton Al.
Did the tourist gig in Nashville. Ragmama was a bit disappointed not being to see the Ryman Auditorium.

Tomorrow we're heading to Panama City Beach.

If anybody is still awake we are going to head to Ontario for the night and pick a truck-stop can anybody recommend which of the several truck stops in Ontario are best for a morning shower after a night's sleep

I always stay at Petro (4325 E Guasti Rd, Ontario, CA 91761). You'll see how good place is by how packed it is. They have decent buffet if you are into that stuff. TA is across the street if it gets too crowded.

I've always stayed at the Petro! I've been told don't stay at the TA across the street. I think now the TA and Petro charge $20 a day to park, even in the front.

When did that start?
Last time I was there, there was about 30 vanners there (most at TA). I doubt they paid $20 per steering wheel.

It was about a month or two ago. I was out that way and he told me to stay in Hesperia cause of the charge. Double check me on that.

When in doubt find out. I called the Petro and the lady told me as long as I was a expeditor and only took up one parking space I should be good. I had to explain to them what a cargo van was. Bobtails and Str8 have to pay $20 a day to park up front.

Read the reviews online, very mixed and really care most about shower. We are partial to PFJ so got a room instead

Wow you got there fast.
Have fun shopping at the Mall in Ontario. That should keep you both busy over the weekend Lol...

Out and back load. To Nampa ID and back to Ontario this weekend. Bummer, get to spend a night in the parking lot again. Lol...

I second the Petro

The $20/day parking fee can be absorbed by purchases, including the restaurant. Two people, one good go at the buffet, you're there. A bit high, but it keeps the transients out. There is a security guard on the job, and they enforce the rules! Kinda sad for the homeless, but in a place of usually excellent weather, they hafta do what they can for the paying customer, I guess

Odd, now that you mention it, Memphis has never been a pick or drop for us

Not that it's a bad place.
Nowadays any place can be good or bad, depending on the availability or lack of loads. Supply - demand is not balanced, I guess.
But then again, tell me where it's good, and in few days everyone will drive there to over-saturate the area with expeditors.
I was just set to go home, so Memphis was not on the priority list of destinations.

Sometimes, when weekend approaches, and you know you'll be in the area for a while, you have to splurge and get a presidential suite. Especially if you are driving that many "high paying miles".
