You have only two options and two solutions. You can choose between them as you see fit.

Make it on your own, or become a ward of the State.

Those are your options.

You can (this is the general you by the way, not the personal you) work your butt off and make things happen. That goes to option one. OR, you can become as mediocre as the rest, do only what is required, or less, and fail. That goes to option two.

Those are your choices.

Once chosen, stick with it, and decide to live on the sum of your choices. It is a choice to lose. IF one chooses to lose, accept it and quit expecting those who choose otherwise to pay for your life.

If you choose to win, you should expect to keep and enjoy the fruits of your own labor.

Is it everyone elses responsibility to support those who made poor choices? Sounds like many had kids too early or were totally unprepared to have them.
Not everyone can be helped or wants it. Just a reality. That is how we wind up with a "culture of dependency".
The only hope these people have is to get educated in something that can provide a living.
If they are poor, education is basically free. That would include college offerings through the internet so that addresses transportation and childcare.
Throwing money at it does nothing. Billions in extra benefits paid and we now have more poor. The "war on poverty" was a complete disaster.
We have moved from a manufacture base because of a global economy to a service base. Which the latter consists of low pay, low hours and basically no skills. Why would they get paid more?
If you raise wages in the service sector, you only hurt the poor more for those services or there will be less jobs.
Only when we start educating kids and adults for things that are needed, will this problem ever get fixed. Until then, the poor will keep getting poor and so on.
My opinion is to give them the opportunity (because the problem is already here) and put a time limit on the benefits.

It all starts with parents. It is the responsibility of those who bring kids into the world in insure that THEIR children are prepared for life. None yours, not mine.

If your kids are not getting a good education, it is YOUR fault. It is, after all, your kids. You CHOSE to bring them into the world, step up to it. Quit expecting others to handle YOUR responsibilities.

Not doing well Yourself? FIX IT YOURSELF. It is no one's responsibility, other than your's.

That is the only attitude that will work and get this nation out of the mess we are in. FAR too many believe that they are owed something.

Well there is that. I am sure she is hoping that is overlooked in 16.

Of COURSE it will be over looked. Women's groups will vote for ANY woman, scum bag or not, as long as she is a Demoncrat. There is no need for a quality candidate. The press will back her, they back ANY scum bag as long as they claim to be a LiBeRal.

And the "sheeple" will fall in line. The "gimmie goobers" have no interest in a quality candidate, they only care that their "Freebies" are continued and expanded.

Quality candidates, and those who would support them will be ridiculed and marginalized as much as possible.

Certainly worked in Obama's case.

We're now beginning to see where Obama's "fundamental transformation" is taking the USA.
A new study by the World Bank and the International Finance Corp. found that the U.S. ranks well behind countries like Rwanda, Belarus and Azerbaijan in terms of how easy it is for an entrepreneur to start a new business.

But on a brighter note, considering the economy is recovering so well...
Employment gap between rich and poor highest on record

The gap in employment rates between America's highest- and lowest-income families has stretched to its widest levels since officials began tracking the data a decade ago, according to an analysis of government data conducted for The Associated Press.
Rates of unemployment for the lowest-income families—those earning less than $20,000—have topped 21 percent, nearly matching the rate for all workers during the 1930s Great Depression.

U.S. households with income of more than $150,000 a year have an unemployment rate of 3.2 percent, a level traditionally defined as full employment. At the same time, middle-income workers are increasingly pushed into lower-wage jobs. Many of them in turn are displacing lower-skilled, low-income workers, who become unemployed or are forced to work fewer hours, the analysis shows...

Question to all those who voted for Barack Hussein Obama: how's that "HOPE & CHANGE" working out for you??

The direction this country was going anyhow...did Obama just hasten our demise by dramatically increasing our debt? ..... Bush wasn't doing much either to push us in the right direction....he just ran out of time...I mean the auto industry was going global no matter what president/party was in power...this country IMO can't afford everyone making $25 bucks an hr and still compete on a global level...

No, we don't have the money to pay everyone 25.00 an hour for basic skills. As mentioned before, if you took all the "rich peoples" money, you still fall way short. Many don't understand that.
Bush spent plenty but Obama is certainly worse. Including our congress that just passed a trillion dollar budget. This graph goes only to 2012
http://www.skymachines.com/US-National-Debt-Per-Capita-Percent-of-GDP-and-by-Presidental-Term.htm

As for the employment/wage gap, it is naturally going to be lopsided. Just how the numbers work because the population is getting older. Of course some like to take the basic numbers, leave that out and exploit it to further an agenda. Older folks just by the numbers have more money whether through education, pensions, and whatever they have for retirement.

The only way to fix any of this is to provide something other countries want. And it isn't waiting tables or mowing lawns. We have to be selling technology and or medical research. Although the latter just got squashed with Obamacare. That is why education is critical to working ourselves out of this mess.
If we don't do that, scrap the education and expand oil, coal, and natural gas. We already have it and other nations are willing to pay for it. It is now a global economy. Better have something others want. That would get us out of debt and actually employ quite a few. Certainly one of the places that Romney actually had some good ideas.

Time will tell if this guy becomes 'Bridegate's' version of John Dean. Since everyone is lawyering up and some are pleading the fifth, it might take a while to hash out what Christie knew and when he knew it. Kind of like a slow drip from a faucett, that keeps on dripping for months.Drip...Drip...Drip. If he did lie and is involved, then I say let the spigott gush.
From article:
The former Port Authority official, who personally oversaw the lane closures on the George Washington Bridge, central to the scandal now swirling around Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, said on Friday that “evidence exists” that the governor knew about the closings when they were happening.

A lawyer for the former official, David Wildstein, wrote a letter describing the move to shut the lanes as “the Christie administration’s order” and said “evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference” three weeks ago.

During his news conference, Mr. Christie specifically said he had no knowledge that traffic lanes leading to the bridge had been closed until after they were reopened. “I had no knowledge of this — of the planning, the execution or anything about it — and that I first found out about it after it was over,” he said. “And even then, what I was told was that it was a traffic study.”

The letter, which was sent as part of a dispute over Mr. Wildstein’s legal fees, does not specify what the evidence is. Nonetheless, it marks a striking break with a previous ally. Mr. Wildstein was a high school classmate of Mr. Christie’s who was hired with the governor’s blessing at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls the bridge.

There's a Democratic State Senator that says if Christie knew, it's time to start the impeachment.

Impeachment is a possibility.( If he lied.) He might be shamed into resigning. Still way to early right now. If he lied, it will eventually come out. Too many people will have an incentive to provide information and cut deals with the Feds to save themselves. The Feds will want to get the big tuna if they can.
