Yep, be I will go down fighting. No kings or dictators for me. I KNOW there are LOT of Canadians in the Yukon and places out that way who are getting fed up with their federal government. There is talk about joining with Alaska and some western states and forming a NEW country.
Time will tell. WAY too much going on. U.S. troops in increasing numbers in Africa and Georgia. Talk of action in Syria. FAR too many things that this "Peace Prize" winner is getting us involved in.

A (relatively) huge percentage of people in the north are on some form of govt assistance. They ain't goin' nowhere.

It's funny you should state it that way, because that's my point on another topic we've been discussing: the nexus of freedom, safety, and HOS. Many believe the gummint is looking out for them and willingly waive not only their rights, but everyone else's.
You're right about there being nowhere left to run for freedom.
Government controls for the sake of control. They are not interested in the well being of those they control.

Alaska's essentially indefensible. At the former Shemya Air Base in Alaska, Air Force personnel underwent extra training with M-16s just in case the Bear decided to make a move, but they knew they wouldn't amount to even a speed bump. If parts of America secede, taking Alaska with them, there wouldn't be enough military might to defend it. Russia would want all that oil. If the seceded part of America didn't have control of nukes and couldn't convince the Russians they'd use them...
Shemya, is not like the rest of Alaska. It is a barren rock in the Bering Sea. It is tiny. No one could defend it. I know MANY who were stationed there. I had very close dealings with those who worked there and their mission. I missed that posting by one person. The guy before me went there, I went to Japan.
The mainland of Alaska can be defended. Against superior forces. It is vast. Germany learned what happens when one assumes that a country cannot be defended when they attacked Russia.

The United States has thousands of nuclear weapons available by land, air and sea at all times. Our nuclear capable submarines alone could destroy enemy nations many times over. If the US was militarily vulnerable in any way, those vulnerabilities would have been exploited long ago.
