Shadow those are great when you get multiple loads!
We are in Georgetown, KY.
We were predispatched from KY to Vegas after dropping load on Louisville, KY. While dropping load, truck started acting up. Last 100 miles had a service engine light on. Dropped load, went to service dealer right away, had 5 hours till we had to pick up load. Service dept. couldn't help us till 4pmso we lost the load (darn).

Then service orders part from CAT dealer in Indianapolis, will be here in morning, but no mechanic to work on it (****).
Ask dispatch if we could send a van to expedite part to us, yep no mechanic till Monday (double ****).
The mechanic says if we pay him a little extra he will stay and work on it and get the part on for us. So we agree, but I am not willing to give the bonus until the work is completed especially on a Friday night.
The part was put on the delivery truck before we knew we would have mechanic problems. So we were then told when we tried to have them just get a second part and allow us to have it expedited to the shop. We had the mechanic willing to stay late to complete the work. But they told us that the supplier didn't have another one. So the part was supposed to be at the shop in the morning and the mechanic agreed to come in and work on his day off. So everything was set.
In the morning we are called and told the truck didn't make it and broke down that the part wouldn't be in until Monday.

I got on the phone and started calling CAT dealers to find the part myself. I found out that the store in Indianapolis actually had 6 on the shelf. But I also found out that the wrong part was ordered in the first place and that the CAT dealer where our delivery was supposed to be taken to had 2 of the parts we needed. In the process of me doing the research the CAT dealer calls the Freightliner shop where our truck is and says that they have the correct part that is needed to fix our truck. CAT told the Freightliner that the wrong part was ordered and they have the correct one.

The mechanic had already gone home for the day though. So when I talked to service manager to let him know what I found out he in turn told me he found out the same thing 10 min. Prior to my call. But that his mechanic had already gone home. I asked him to call the mechanic and tell him we will pay him a bonus if he comes in and fixes our truck to get us on the road.

We got back to the truck by 11am and it was almost completed. We got back on road by 1pm. Now just waiting on dispatch to get us a load. Hopefully we can get one more load to bring this week up.

So now we are in Georgetown Kentucky hoping for a load.
Beautiful weather and day here today.

Well everything is tied up here...spent most of Thrusday morning in the County Prosecutors office trying i figure out the next move in prosecuting a worthless pos or even if we should move forward and maybe mess up my nieces life even more...Then Fri was spend with grieving family members as they finished making funeral arrangement and then Today was the burial...

Thanks for all of the well wishes from all of you, it is greatly appreciated...

So now i'll be sitting back for the rest of today, and tomorrow, watch some basketball...I fly out of Detroit monday morning back to El Paso and go back in service, and a bit of normalcy...Hoping to get a good long run back to the Detroit area as I , LOL, have to go back out of service Fri the 18th so i can pickup the new van. Then take a few days to get the old van ready for the new driver, get the new one road ready even if it is just enough to haul freight and then work on it as I go...Need to be in Taylor on the 24th for orientation for the new driver and to get the new van setup and "STRIPED!!"

So all and all, this month as set out to be a mixed bag of good and sad..but we are moving forward and it will all be good in the end...

Again, thanks for all of your kind words///

I'd like to thank all of you for your kind words with the loss of my Mother. My sons have returned east now and it's time to get back to as normal. Think I'll keep Ken home for today at least as I gave him my cold and it's a bad one. But I'm sure glad he's home.

Chef,

Did the truck start without help? If not, did you have the QC "brain" unplugged?

Steve, the truck started fine and every thing else was fine...the QC fired up but wouldn't load and wouldn't go to the home page and it cycled on and off every few minutes...after talking to Tim in service, I pulled the 9 pin connector until the 2 lights on the power module went completely out then re connected it..its all good now...

Still in El Paso...will sit here till maybe 4 pm eastern time, then strat DH'in toward St Louis...I need to stop there if possible to pickup 2 new Floor Scrubber 6 volt Trojan Batteries for the new van (thanks for the tip Turtle, they remembered you) then keep moving toward Toledo and picking up the new van Friday...
