John Deere, Johnny Walker, and Johnny Cash make a great honey do list, well I probably wouldn't mix the Deere and Walker.

George Jones and Johnny Walker met one time and got on a Deere. George went to jail for DUI. That really happened in early 1970"s.

Well you wouldn't want to mix them otherwise you could end up screaming Oh Deere, having to Walker into the hospital, and lay out lots of Cash.

Well, the kitchen is almost done so am out to mow the jungle and I need to spray my potatoes...I must have a million baby grasshoppers feasting on the leaves and the plants must be getting close to 3 and 1/2' tall now..wow..never had them so big! They are flowering and looking real pretty!:)

Get some chickens in there and let them go to work. A flock can clean out a garden in a couple days.

Do you guys have "rent a chicken" service over there?

Nope not kidding.

I heard from someone who used the service a few years back. You rent them per day and they clean the garden out of pests and leave chicken manure for the plants. The way it was described to me is you call up, leave a deposit (CC) when you make the appointment and they come out with a dozen or two chickens, chicken fencing (other controlling measures) setup the area and let them go. They collect them 4 to 6 hours after, clean up the fencing then leave. I understood from the person telling me this, her garden had all kinds of grasshoppers in it, devouring her plants but the chickens got most of them in the first day.

Well that keeps it an organic garden...might have to re consider setting up the chicken coop...we thought of having chickens but other projects just got in the way...
and I still want to graze a couple of cows...

For the price of chicks, I would think the $40 you spend on them plus some feed pays for itself with either the bug killers feed themselves or when you have that Sunday chicken dinner.

My father's city allows you to have three, here which is a township and I live in a semi-rural environment with deer, coyote and wild pit bulls, I can't even put up a tent without a hassle let alone chickens.

I warned my wife when we move, we will have chickens and maybe a cow.

like a small rural Indian town...wood frame houses mixed with some brick ones...and small town shops...and some still ride their horse into town...not many...more ATV's and golf carts/scooters....no license required..

Sounds quaint. Probably not much different from here except for the Amish

And the corn is as tall as the potatoes now..musta shot up 6 inches over night. Tried something different on my potato plants..sprinkled them with flour and it pretty much did away with the potato bugs..and for a little while the grasshoppers. (Old family recipe), but you've got to keep sprinkling...and Ken dug up the first little baby potato which I polished off..not bad!!

Also pulled a whole bunch of rhubarb and gave it to the neighbors..after I made a rhubarb and cherry crisp!:)

With the weird weather we've had here, my lettuce is all bolting.

Have you ever used diatomaceous?

We used to use that on our plants at the old house, killed a lot of things. I ordered 50 lbs of it, which I can not find locally, because I have an bug problem (ants and some other kreepy van driver looking bug) thanks to the flood.
