so has your land dried out? Replanted any yet?

No comment on the first part.

Sort of still have a water issue.

Going to work on that and finishing up the ripping of the new basement, got those bagsters which is better than the dumpster - won't rip up my drive. I am still waiting for Fema to send over the paper work for me to sign but other than that, I spent a crap load of money yesterday on supplies and am waiting for deliver of my inflatable garage so I can take my expensive free wood out. I discovered my missing tool box with all my nice expensive aircraft and antique car tools in it, so I hope that it being filled with water actually didn't allow a lot of rust from forming - that's the afternoon project.

Replanted?

Seriously?

All awash this year - lost about everything, including the two fields I planted. I discovered a tray full of plants that I thought went overboard last month so I am still waiting for you to stop by and turn over the ground. What I did plant is acting weird, I don't have berrys on my strawberry plants but a lot of runners and my spinach all bolted with the lettuce being slow. I have Brussels sprouts already and peppers popping up.

OH by the way, your super duper dehydrator didn't make it through the flood so it is now on back order. You'll be the first to get one when we go back into production.

oh the fun...oh the joy! I spent most of the day picking weeds...filled up four trashbags full..I can now see my corn and beans and lettuce and peas and collards..it is rather therapeutic! :)

Well I tried to clean up the between the fence and the shed today while my wife tried to cut the lawn. I have to put up a temporary shelter next week to clean out the basement from the flood now that we finally got the paper work back from FEMA.

It was a serious of frustrating moments - I have vines that entangled the trees that are on the side of the shed. At first they were easy to cut but as I progressed into the forest, they were a mass of vines. If my neighbor didn't put up a wood fence, I would have just dumped gas on all of it and let it go up in flames.

Once I got it to the point I can see what's going on, I had to stop because my wife gave up on trying to cut the lawn and left me with the clean up which I only move the lawn mower to the shed.

I decided to stop for a while and put some time into the ditch, the very ditch that needs to be cleaned out but the county and township refuse to come out and clean it. So I thought I would use my nice big weed whip that I bought a number of years ago and used sparingly but took care of it. It didn't want to start at first, then the throttle controls broke after I got it to start, then it ran out of string and after I put string in the bobbin, it decided to fly out of the bobbin and onto the street some 50 feet away so it went back in the basement.

This is all after I discovered my new gas can sprung a leak in it, just after mixed the gas and oil together in a new gas can that I painted a M on the side to tell me it was a mix - leaving me with a half gallon of as in it when I discovered it.

Just a wonderful day

Oh did I mention I have zucchini blossoms in my little messed up garden?

sounds like you need to go pluck your zucchini blossoms and fry them up and call it a day..we've had so much rain this spring that it seems to take forever to get the grounds cleaned up..looking pretty sharp this morning..now if it would just STAY that way..*l*

Just went out and weeded some more in the garden...the dill is growing wild all over and it doesn't pull too easy. My sage is actually developing a bloom..can't wait to see what it looks like. Got the asparagus bed weeded and will start on the peppers in the morning. The sprinkler is turned on to soften up the dirt to make easier pulling..man I Love my garden!!!:D

I'd weed a whole row for a tomato...mine are still a couple months out..:)

I've never really liked okra..probably because I don't know how to cook it..but isn't it really starchy and gooey? How do ya cook it?

wash it, cut it up in small pieces and meal it. fry it in crisco and add some crisco oil.to freeze it wash it, cut it up in small pieces and meal it and put it in freezer bags. when you get ready to cook it, get it out of bag and take a knife chop it up and drop it in skillet or deep fryer.add your salt before you deep fry it. put a little salt in it to forgot to tell you.Patsy (Jason's wife).then cook till golden brown

If Patsy makes them, I'd be tempted to try! :)

now it's off to do some more weeding...starting to look more like a garden and less like a jungle!
