Death by DeSantis

It’s something that we will just have to accept then.
Easily said if you have money to spare. But I expect many Floridians will begin to push back against the new Florida law when they figure out how much it is stretching their already stretched grocery budgets.

Got it. Biden’s economic policies that drove up the cost of almost everything will now be the reason not to pay agricultural workers a higher salary because that’s where Floridians will plant their flag and say no more.

Biden's policies will be on the ballot in 2024, as will those of DeSantis and his legislative loyalists in Florida. DeSantis will not be on the Florida ballot but his legislative buddies will be. It will be interesting to see how they fare after they gave DeSantis the anti-woke and other laws DeSantis sought.

It will be interesting considering a majority of Floridians agree with the “anti-woke” legislation and the state is getting more conservative every day as people flock to it.

When we raise our kids, we tell them that they need to go to college so that they dont have to work a day in their life. So why does it surprise anyone when they refuse to do manual labor for low wages?????

Likely staff shake-up amid imploding DeSantis campaign.
Wealthy donors aren’t happy with the campaign’s performance. They’re not getting much bang for their bucks. In other words, the campaign is shooting blanks.

All campaigns have staff people come and go. The fact that some DeSantis campaign operatives are leaving is not an indicator that the campaign is imploding. The DeSantis campaign is well funded and there is no shortage of highly skilled political operatives who would happily take gigs on that gravy train.

Notwithstanding the huge amount of money the DeSantis campaign has on hand, his campaign is sputtering. You can see this not only in the poll numbers but in the headlines. The tone of the headlines has shifted. Before, DeSantis was a potential threat to win the nomination. Now the headlines talk about a campaign reset or a letter to donors reassuring them that DeSantis is still relevant. Strong campaigns do not reset or send out letters of reassurance.

Whether it's true or not, DeSantis also suffers from reports about his awkward social skills, policy missteps and inability to gain any ground whatsoever on Trump. A quick Google News search of "DeSantis Campaign" instantly highlights a campaign that is flailing about or is on the defensive.

DeSantis supporters may complain that such a search presents a skewed view owing to Google's and MSM liberal bias. But DeSantis himself has taken up blaming the liberal media for his campaign's sluggishness (another sign of weakness). That's a remarkable (and desperate) act since for the claim to be true, DeSantis must logically assume that his supporters listen to and are swayed by the liberal media. The DeSantis campaign is not struggling because DeSantis is failing. The campaign is struggling because MSM is telling his supporters to turn away, and these sheepish people are doing it. That explanation makes no sense, but it's the one DeSantis now offers.

That says something about DeSantis. He's not saying I made mistakes or I can do better. He's saying The left wing media controls my supporters and it's their fault my campaign is sputtering.

The DeSantis campaign is not imploding, but it is stuck in the mud. The vehicle is operational but is doing little more than spinning its wheels at present.

That's not to say the DeSantis campaign is doomed. It's very early in the cycle. It is conceivable Trump's support will somehow collapse. If that happens, DeSantis would be a likely beneficiary.

A Trump collapse is conceivable, but not probable. Trump has an iron grip on the Republican Party delegates who will select the nominee. Nothing Trump says, does, or fails to do; and nothing other people say or do regarding Trump, is likely to dissuade these Trump-loving delegates from nominating Trump.

Trump’s lead in the polls is insurmountable. His supporters are strongest behind him than the other candidates. Polls show they would only vote for Trump than the other candidates. At this point it is a waste of resources to not get behind the inevitable nominee, which is Trump.

Shake-up in the DeSantis campaign:
So-called shakeups are sometimes just that, a panic response to under-performance. More common are change-ups. It is not at all uncommon for major campaigns to shift personnel around in response to developments. Either way, be this a shake-up or change-up, it is not an implosion. The DeSantis campaign is a functioning entity.

Interesting to see DeSantis cut staff to cut costs as Biden raises $72 million. DeSantis made a big fundraising splash early but that seems to have slowed. We'll know more when the quarterly reports are revealed. As a fundraising entity, the DeSantis campaign ain't woke. It seems to have gone asleep.

Whatever the Desantis campaign is going through, the fact remains, Trump has tremendous leads almost everywhere. Nothing DeSantis’s campaign can do will change the dynamic of that. Trump’s support is too solid and it won’t go away.

Part of the Reason DeSantis is Failing

News broke today that Trump received a target letter from the DOJ regarding Jan. 6. DeSantis responded by criticizing Trump's Jan. 6 behavior, and by condemning the DOJ and others for holding Trump accountable. In no time at all, he pissed off both Trump supporters and Trump critics. All by himself, DeSantis alienated himself from both ends of the spectrum, and he did nothing to endear himself to the mainstream middle.

There is no mainstream middle.
