Oh yes, Vandriver2, the only speck associated with you is that very first spot when you touch your brush to canvas and from there that speck blossoms to something unique and wonderful just like it's creator.
I see the loads Bolt brokers out and it isn't very many per day. Most partner carriers are only brokering out 20 or less loads per day on most days. Don't get upset by this practice. By Bolt taking every load their customer calls them on is ensuring that they have more loads for you and your truck in the future.
I have heard there are drivers like that. I can only worry about what I do and don't do. When I am In Service, anywhere, anytime I am IN SERVICE my phone is fully Charged and inside my van with me or on me if I leave Maggie to buy food, walk her, use the restroom.I have had to broker out loads before because my driver wasn't answering his phone. The driver was not happy about it, but I can't wait around for 30 minutes to see if a driver is going to answer the phone. I have to get the load covered and move on to other business. There are a lot of times when drivers do not answer their phones, especially after hours. That is one of the most frustrating parts of being a dispatcher. Any number of scenarios could have gone into play before Bolt decided to broker out those loads.
Kind Words, thanks.Oh yes, Vandriver2, the only speck associated with you is that very first spot when you touch your brush to canvas and from there that speck blossoms to something unique and wonderful just like it's creator.
Haha! I like that "Just a Driver again!" I'd like to just "Just Give Birth Again! Lolololo haha! Most dispatchers have so much going on that they don't even have time to think about leaving this truck here an that truck there. You do know that Bolt has 1 guy who just sits there and bids on loads all day. That is all he does, then dispatch gets those loads and tries to dispatch them to the trucks. You'd be surprised that sometimes they have to broker out a load over the simple fact that the shipper is going to close within the hour, and one of their own trucks is too far out to make the pick on time. They still have to service that customer, so they broker it out to a truck that is maybe 15 minutes out...instead of trying to make the shipper stay open for an extra half an hour. There are so many things going on behind the scenes in operations it would make your head spin. There are some days when I wish I was just a driver again. lol. Seriously.
You got here quicker WornOutManager than I thought you would!!!As I said yesterday, I am doing well with them but their business ethics, or lack of, bother me deeeeeply. I understand and accept my role as a contractor and will continue to work with them, but, with my eyes a lot more open.
You're starting to remind me of Carol from The Walking Dead! Riding Harleys lol!Kind Words, thanks.
You'd be equally impressed by how well I backed a Semi or Road my Hog thru the Twisties southern Ohio.
REALLY BAD AT A LOT OF THINGS TOO.
You could have to deal with me..Well, sometimes I feel like a psychiatrist being a dispatcher. So many drivers have so many restrictions about not going here, not going to this area. I wish I could just call them with a load and not have to haggle with them about it. As a driver, I just get the loads and deliver them on time. I hate even messing with dispatch. I got so good at being a driver that I would use my wireless internet connection on the side of the road to look up maps and customer contacts in the middle of the night. I used to do most of the leg work on my own instead of calling dispatch and waiting for an hour for them to figure out what is going on. I wish all of my drivers were motivated like that.
I guess we are getting Screwwd by a Bolt!! VanDriver2, This is why you are sitting, follow along........made a pick up a ways below Indy. When I arrived there were other "unwrapped" older, sprinters. Tried to speak to one of the drivers, eastern European without English, no surprise........keep reading. I went in and asked shipper why he wasn't using Bolt on the other shipments since they were all going to the same place and he said - huh? They are all from our company. So I called dispatch and the dispatcher chuckled and said they didn't have other vans in the area so they sometimes use a "Partner Carrier". I asked why the Partner Carrier didn't have to have vehicles to Bolt specifications. His reply was: that it is a competitive business and they have to use who has the better rates. SO, I wonder, is Vandriver2 sitting because they can get their Partner Carriers cheaper and it costs Bolt nothing for us to sit while they support the side of the industry that is driving rates down. I think this manifestation of GREED is disgusting. However, correct me if it is a regular practice with other Expediting companies?
You're absolutely correct xiggi, and so we adjust, or at least I do. Don't run the Generator, find tall shade trees at a park until it cools off enough for Open Windows (with your home-sewn magnet edged screens) @ Wally Lot or TS. Spend Less, Eat Less. Don't Gamble. Don't run an air conditioner when home, open the winderz and turn on an ceiling or room fan. Water Heater down lower, unplug stuff. Find that $2.33 Diesel Pump. 65mph instead of 70. Don't eat at a Restaurant Restaurant where you a leave 20% Tip. If Ya got something to sell, don't put it off, sell it. If Ya got a great Spouse workin hard, be thankful and tell em so! Average your Pay out over 6 or more Months, so Ya don't 'Freak Out!'. (song)Every July and January people start posting about being slow and guessing as to why. They are historically slow months. When they end it's a slow build not a sudden uptick. Also remember the number of cheap vans seems to be constantly growing putting more and more people out there willing to haul for ridiculous rates. The pool of loads don't increase as much as the number of vans do. As someone likes to say, that's logistics.
The Past Week the couple times I called in late afternoon, our Total Load Count at that time was a minimum of 50 Loads LESS than a Good, Busy Day!Sylectus isn't the only game in town. But this number has doubled, I think, in the past few years. Have the load counts doubled? Just my two cents.

May I inquire as to why you left Driving to Dispatch? Sounds like you'd rather be out here with us? ...or do you do both?Well, sometimes I feel like a psychiatrist being a dispatcher.
