As an O/O with Bolt, I have access to Fleet Vision. It does show my Current location and if I'm In Service.
If I don't HAVE to call in I don't. I usually email and ask for their Reply, for Verification.
Just got a Call for a Load. The exact two Co. I just picked up from and delivered to and for the same $. Sure, I'll take it I say. Dispatcher says, I have them on the other line holding. Ok, It's a Go.
Ok, picks up at 4 they say, we hang up.
I wait for the "ding" (sound) Info to come over via Sylectus on my IPad.
Phone Rings. Same Dispatcher. "Sorry, I didn't see it was more weight than what you can Carry."
500 lbs. over. WHY, WHY don't people pay attention to details that they have access to?
Wouldn't it save them a lot of time and effort? Size or weight, it happens too frequently.
Oh well, I make my own mistakes too.

The last time they called me for a good long load it turned into a oh wait it's too heavy for you... It was 26 pounds to heavy.... I took it and they up'd the pay quite a bit!

That's good! Help cover the extra Fuel, brake wear etc..
Heck, if wasn't a big difference like 500 lbs. I woulda said SURE!
I even offered the suggestion..."Could they reduce the Freight at all to meet my Max. Load?"
Nope, no can do.

I always thought...that if a dispatcher was seeing recurring loads popping up but they were say 100 miles out and too far for the customer to consider our bid...that they'd call and say Hey this is what we are seeing " it might be in your best interest to move a little closer"....
Would that be Thinking out of the Box ....

First, let me say I am doing well with Bolt. BUT I do not think highly of many of their policies. To sum it up, they place little value in their O/O's - drivers!! As my mentor (vandriver2) taught me, the dispatchers work for BOLT, not me. I am my only advocate for me. I respect the dispatchers job and I would'nt want to do it. I like our dispatchers, BUT (again) they get paid for their time whether the phone rings or not, or they get the job or not. I am on duty 24/7 but only get paid while under load, SO, if I feel the need to call and "push" a little I don't feel bad.

Sorry to be so wordy.

Called again just now, different Dispatcher, about the same Load, same weight, 500 over my Limit. Dispatcher: "Since when did you change your Freight Limit"
Me: Never (been that way since I set up my Van to Wait in/Live in 4 years ago)
Good try though.

I was there for almost 4 years and still have friends that are O/OP there ... Made good money there But always had to Negotiate on rates ... maybe called in once a week .... most of answers were like preprogramed into the minds of people answering phone ... NO personal or respectful attitude was allowed towards drivers or O-OP .... you were just a number .... of course this MY Opinion only ...

Yes, for the 4 years I've been there.... always a Negotiation with every Dispatcher. Just the way they run their Business. I am just a Freight Mover and what matters is how low I'll move it for and that I'm not late on any PU or Delivery. I am a number just as I have been in any previous Job. I do what I need to do in order to take care of myself and Maggie. Thankful.
