Exactly what my words have been in the past, in a calm, Curteous voice...and "that's supposed to placate me?"
No comment on the other end.
I only call in prior to Moving or going Home to see IF, IF I am On Reserve and therefore will wait 20 more minutes to see if I get THAT call with a Load or Not.
When it is slow I have drivers calling in asking me if I know where they're at. They want to yack on the phone all day asking what kind of loads I'm seeing. I actually miss loads because some of my drivers want to talk and talk and talk. I swear, if I ever go back to driving again, I'm never going to call dispatch and bug them lol. I'm not saying you're bothering your dispatchers, I'm just saying that dispatchers can't make the loads magically appear. All they can do is put the bids in for you and hope they win one of them.

Lol, blizzard is up? I thought I was the only one that's up at this hour.

On the way to Richmond VA...
More are up. But wish we were still sleeping.

A week or 2 ago I was at a pickup and there were 3 drivers there bragging what they were driving. I was waiting there quietly and one of them asked me what I was driving. When I told him, his reply was that I am not a real truck driver.:yawn::vomit::vomit:

I've had that happen to me a few times. My response has generally been along the lines of, "Yeah, I know. I only make a dollar a mile and I don't get to log and scale, but at least I can park anywhere I want." :D

Yep, I understand all of that, being in this business now for 5 yrs. coming up November.
Like this morning for my 7am PU. I email my Dispatchers, letting them know I'm up and inside the Shipping Office.
I don't ever want to tie up their Phone lines. They could be calling me or someone else with work!
Have a good one!

I call once a day, in the morning to make sure I'm in service, and that's it till they call me.

I stopped calling my dispatchers for loads 3 yrs ago. They always say...."If we have anything, we'll let you know." And they did let me know, sometimes a week later, Lol.
I always thought...that if a dispatcher was seeing recurring loads popping up but they were say 100 miles out and too far for the customer to consider our bid...that they'd call and say Hey this is what we are seeing " it might be in your best interest to move a little closer"....wouldn't that be more proactive?

Yup! And, sometimes I'd DH to the location on my dollars.

Sorry didn't update...sun to mon I did Grove City, OH to Baton Rouge, LA and as I was pulling in to deliver they offered me reload at that location back to Grove City, OH. Well duh...so I had 2000 loaded miles by noon yesterday and went the 62 miles home. Am in service once again in Dayton, OH now.
