.80? is that YOUR take..what you get?In many cases the carrier will ask what I require for dead head. over the course of the last 6 months I've found bidding at $0.80 all in will win the load one out of 15 times yuck

What you need to realize is that price is not the only consideration when awarding bids. Sure some shippers will always go low ball but often they consider other things. Carrier reputation, ratings, etc all come into play. Don't get stuck on price alone, those are things people need to consider when choosing a carrier. Like I mentioned earlier if your people have to bid in the .50's to get you out of laredo that's a sign you might need to shop yourself around. In many cases the carrier will ask what I require for dead head. over the course of the last 6 months I've found bidding at $0.80 all in will win the load one out of 15 times yuck
do you know what your spit is....your carriers profit margin? That is not been my take for the last 2 months. the last 2 months I've averaged $0.74
the way of this business....think you can be only wrong 50% of your moves...either left or right...LOLGood point on associating yourself with the right carrier. in addition learning the location where one will end up and where the freight is helps quite a bit. you know I've been told by one carrier there is no freight in certain locations I think only because they either did not have customers in the area or they knew that the rival carrier uses that preferred lane. I've been told there is 0 freight in certain areas and was asked to dh only to get a call 40 minutes later from the spot I just left. please provide me a list of all customers that use expedited cargo vans. haha
most small carriers have NO customers...what they call customers are other carriers selling them their loads...or a variety of Broker load boards Like CH Robinson, Penske logistics, NLM....Good point on associating yourself with the right carrier. in addition learning the location where one will end up and where the freight is helps quite a bit. you know I've been told by one carrier there is no freight in certain locations I think only because they either did not have customers in the area or they knew that the rival carrier uses that preferred lane. Let me clarify. the other two carriers do not disclose their profit margin. the one carrier that does is the carrier that requires the VOI certified insurance, which supposedly helps the carrier win the bid. it is frustrating not knowing the profit margin of the other two carriers
don't be disillusioned by Ntimes paid miles....that carrier is also a BIG load broker a logistics specialist....they only pay him what they can afford...NO carrier gives the money away if they aren't getting their cut first...They have customers that are willing to pay for trucks that have their decals only like "exclusive use" Kind of like Whirlpool before they got Pantherized...
Your average..is that ALL miles or just your paid miles?...
Disillusioned ... Loldon't want to depress you, but don't want to lead you down Dream street either....
better to be at the corner of Reality and What it is Blvd.....
And that is why we don't recommend multi carrier because you are bidding carriers against one another for the same load at a lowest rate possible instead of the highest rate possible.imagine this...multi carrier style....2 carriers have you posted to an area....
first carrier texts you....bidding on a load now...
2nd carrier calls...........bidding on a load op...
1st carrier ..................dang we loss the load by a nickle to a low ball carrier
2 nd carrier calls........We got that load!!! LOL
