I used to go to Laredo for a good rate and back out for a little less .... but a switch of Carriers and now I don't need to go to Laredo to get Miles ... but if a load to Laredo came my way .. I would do it ... because I get paid the same leaving and within a 24 hour window .... Loaded or Not ..

Hey ntime good to hear that there are carriers that would be willing to commit to a rate there and back. I spoke to a couple carriers that pay flat rate. let me think how that worked. oh yeah they want you to remain regional so they expect you to drive for example 400 miles and back for a 1.10. Or 55 cpm

So I think I got this business figured out I've been at it for about 6 months now. What is the best business model? Seems to me if an entity or enterprise would have the Broker, shipper, carrier, dispatchers, marketing, recruiting all under one roof, I could probably make some money. that sounds like communism I think I want to be the Putin of CV Expediting.

I have averaged 77 cents per mile we start with two carriers since January of this year. In january and february average of 82 then things got worse. any thoughts on that

don't be disillusioned by Ntimes paid miles....that carrier is also a BIG load broker a logistics specialist....they only pay him what they can afford...NO carrier gives the money away if they aren't getting their cut first...They have customers that are willing to pay for trucks that have their decals only like "exclusive use" Kind of like Whirlpool before they got Pantherized...

Your average..is that ALL miles or just your paid miles?...

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes I'm seeing the big load carriers pay better that is paid miles only. I have to say I've been fairly lucky on deadhead miles. averaging about 30. Miles per pickup. I do not get dh mile pay or fsc.

at that rate yes you do....it is just all included and not broken out separately....my carrier is same way...makes it simpler for billing and figuring....The term we use is "all in" or "all inclusive"

Okay I see what you are saying. the FSC is figured in and it probably allows for some dead head
don't kow if I'd say that....keep in mind the FSC is figured on the price of Diesel and if you are gas....your really getting bonus bucks....LOL thats a funny right there....:p

Re: DH...15-20% is considered normal for CV unpaid....most carriers set the first 100 miles as unpaid or 50 miles whatever the contract says...
unpaid DH is a 100% deduction from your money....so IF your carrier as some do are includung the DH as part of the bidding process...thats why your not winning bids....most shippers are not going to pay your DH unless they are really stressed to get the load moved....

In many cases the carrier will ask what I require for dead head. over the course of the last 6 months I've found bidding at $0.80 all in will win the load one out of 15 times yuck
