    Ha, that's hilarious! :D

    Oops!

Well obviously the guy wouldn't walk into a scheduled pre-employment drugscreen, knowing he had done cocaine, right? It isn't like the guy just 'does' this, and got caught on a random. Not being into drugs, I have no idea how long it takes to leave your system, but I'm sure he's not that...

Harder to find Drivers because of our company.

So call the person, and tell them you are authorized by the fleetowner to deal with these matters. Type an auth letter to produce for this recruiter, and get the fleetowner to sign it, if you have to. Hopefully you will have the backing of the fleetowner. If not, you will at least know where you...

Harder to find Drivers because of our company.

Ha, yes.. it's funny how when one is more desperate, the standards get lower, and things that may have previously been unacceptable, start to look pretty good. :)

    Truck Insurance

Are insurance rates really THAT different between US and Canada??? Those rates seem incredibly LOW! Here the rates are hardly affected by the size/ type/ value of vehicle, having more to do with liability risk, where you're travelling, driver history, etc. Some carriers here don't even bother...

    Democrats???

Can I ask why everyone is ignoring leprechaun's post re the freedom to fascism video? I am not intelligent enough regarding politics to have an opinion on this, but the people referenced in the video seem to be rather intelligent. I found it awfully interesting, to say the least. Would love to...

Nashville .. hello anyone here..... lol

Some places will close Monday instead of Tues, and many it seems, will take both days as holidays, even if their place of biz is open; Also it's 'moving day' in Quebec on Tuesday. Just a heads up, if you get dispatched to our side, you might not get out until Wed!

    California is SICK

Speaking of slavery, I always have an inner little chuckle when some of the drivers here post about their 'owner(s)'.Ya so, it don't take much eh.

Own Authority and a Leased Operator

Aren't you considered 'for hire' even if you, as an owner-operator, are leased on with a carrier? Wouldn't the mileage rate only be deductible as an expense if you used your own vehicle as an employee in the course of doing business for your employer? And isn't there something about it having...

    CDL License

Can't you get a CDL even if you are just going to drive a car? It's just you will have to rent an over-26001Lb vehicle for your road test, right? So call a driver-training centre (school), and ask what the deal is for them to allow you to do the test in their vehicle. Here, they will charge you...

Has anyone heard of this ???

Can it be considered discrimination for a carrier not to agree to lease any given person on, due to whatever reasons? If it were an employee relationship, I believe it could be, but when you're simply entering into a contract with someone, don't both parties have the right to contract with whom...

Has anyone heard of this ???

When you say you 'passed the Dot', what does that mean? Isn't it a bunch of info the doc posts on the form? So, say 'doc' put blood pressure at... whatever number.. how do you know it was a 'pass' in the end? Is there an end piece where the doc says, 'yes, he passed the Dot', or 'no, he failed...

    new to expedited

I think everyone could agree that if you run your butt off, and go thru the mechanics of running a business with all the work that entails in itself, if you are left with nothing after paying all your expenses, you might as well have enjoyed your days sitting in a park under a tree or something...

Best way to sell a truck?

Why, on the EO Classifieds, of course!

    Back to the drawing board.

The value received was the training, which I assume costs some $6000. The license itself is their only leverage. Can they not place you with another company who will cover the cost? Or can they not make a payment arrangement directly with you? The training, at least here, would count for 3 years...

    Take Care

Could always hedge the question and say, 'commercial drivers are not supposed to carry guns', or some such thing so the asker doesn't get a real answer. Altho you might have the police on your tail afterwards.

    Back to the drawing board.

I'm guessing Werner paid for the training, and the money for the training is now owed by the trainee, and must be received before the paperwork will be released?

Why are they asking for a resume?

It's just an introduction, a lot of info, all put together, in order, summarized, and as JJ said, saves the person on the other end of the phone (initial contact) from having to write it all down and make sense of it later. It's just part of the paperwork, it doesn't replace an official...

Why are they asking for a resume?

If you are talking about carriers wanting a resume for consideration of yourself as a potential OO to be leased on with them.... from what I have seen, they would like to see a complete history going back 10 years, without any holes in it. I believe this is for insurance reasons, to make sure...
