    leaky coolant line under cab

I have run regens with my dummy Def injector installed (cleaning out deposits in the SCR) without the coolant lines plugged in, and it melted one of the plastic fittings. I took them out of the Def injector for future use. Like greasy said they are not that hard to change and are engineered to...

parking brakes on and would not drive or reverse.

Check the ATF level and make sure the linkage is attached to the transmission. If the fluid was low it should set a code but it’s free to check it.

FYI, before you replace that injection pump...

Nice post moocowman. I just wanted to add 11-14 Conventionals have a “bubbler filter” with no actual fuel filter element in the cartridge. On 2015 and up Conventionals (not a cab over and has a hood FYI) there is a filter element in the filter. The service interval is 84 months or 240k miles! I...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

It is the switch on the relay valve. (the front valve in your picture) Look real close at the wires right where they go into the connector. Use the 2 finger pull test to see if they are good and not corroded there. You should have 12v on one wire. I think they are red and red with a black...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

The old pic got cut off so I attached a new one 90% it’s a correlation issue between the two the stop lamp switch (pedal) and the brake switch (relay valve)

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Is this an air brake truck? You need to monitor the stop lamp switch and the brake switch. They should mirror each other when monitoring them in the ECU not the VCS. If this is an air brake truck the switch is on the relay valve. If that is not you issue I would be looking at the turbo. 90%...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Have someone look at your brake lights while you try to make the brake lights stay on. If you can make the lights stay on by slowly taking your foot off the pedal then you’re switch is out of adjustment. There is also an updated spring that helps the pedal return fully. If you need more info...

Lack of power loss after coming to a stop. What sensors are used in "Calculated Load"?

Common problem. Adjust the brake switch at the pedal.

does anyone know if there are any other engine problems with a Hino 338 after a gasket job has been performed like lower part of engine blowing out

Replace all 6 injector cups. They cause 75% of the pushing coolant issues I see. If you have the head off you would be crazy not to. It’s $50 per cup, 6 extra o-rings and maybe an hours worth of labor. I have worked on Hinos with up to 900k miles on them. Seen a ton over 600k and half the...

    I'm quitting.

Just a FYI fellas I will be quitting this forum. Its time to pass the torch. Greasy did it for years and I was trying to hold down the fort. I see now that the site is advertising in the posts and pretty much everywhere on the site. I get it, you got to keep the $ rolling in to keep the site up...

    2009 268 DPF Thermal management

    2009 268 DPF Thermal management

Get a Russian bootleg copy of DX off Ebay ($25), then Buy a Chinese Nexiq for $140, then get the Hino adaptor from amazon for $ 22. Once you have all those sell that snap on scanner. Inspect thE wires right at the sensors for breaking or fretting. The DPR fails because of something upstream most...

Guidance needed 2005 Hino 268 ABS

Yeah sounds like you got it basically covered. You could load test the wires from the ECU to the pump just to 100% verify the integrity of the wires, it sounds like the modulator resistance is correct though. You could un pin the lh side and swap the pins to the rh side and see if the code...

Guidance needed 2005 Hino 268 ABS

Here is the manual for a cab mount D Version ECU. Follow the trouble tree and ohm out the valves from the grey X1 connector. Inlet valve and outlet valve resistance. This will tell you if it is the ecu or the wiring from the valve to the ECU. At the bottom of the valve it pins out the inlet...

Guidance needed 2005 Hino 268 ABS

PM me the vin. Somethings not jiving here. The ABS module is attached to the pump motor on the frame on hydraulic brake trucks. The abs ecu for air brake trucks is mounted in the fuse relay center. This is a 05 so I could be wrong but a complete vin would straighten it out on my end.

Guidance needed 2005 Hino 268 ABS

You need use the diagram in the manual, load test ALL powers and grounds at the module. Verify the data link is operational, check Can resistance 60 ohms and check your cab voltages for your high/low split. 2.6v high and 2.4v low. Roughly. If you have all that then try a test module if you have...

Guidance needed 2005 Hino 268 ABS

If the ABS light is on the torque converter will not lock up. I have Meritor software that I use. Diagnosis by blink codes only can be tricky. The service manuals are available for free from Meritor Wabco. I would get the proper service manual and go diagnose the blink codes from there.

2007 UD 1800hd VNT p0045 turbo and actuator replaces waiting to see result

Just for the record, I have heard only one person having any sort of luck with just replacing an actuator. I cant really make out what you did to fix the P0045. Did you buy a complete Chinese turbo, an OEM turbo or an aftermarket actuator. Thanks
