Nexiq USB Link Adapter for Hino & UD

I am upgrading my Nexiq to the Bluetooth 2 edition and figured I’d offer up my nexiq 1 here first. I have lots of people ask me what adapters to use and what to communicate with. This is my set up and I have personally used it for communication with Hino, UD, Allison, Wabco ,Cummins, Mack ...

    2013 Hino 268 (vibration problem)

So… I went back through your posts. You offered if the engine vibration increases, while parked, then it could be a balancer… or an engine mount. Either way, you should call the harmonic balancer guru Bruce Mallison at Pittsburg power because he knows his poop, even has some sort of radio show...

    2013 Hino 268 (vibration problem)

Mr Loyalty… how exactly is that you, or harmonic balancer guru Bruce Mallison would come to the conclusion the balancer is faulty? I’m curious to know what the diagnostic steps you would perform for 2013 Hino with a J08-E engine.

    2013 Hino 268 (vibration problem)

Been working on Hinos since 2005. Never seen, or even heard of a balancer going bad. Not to say that it is impossible, just never seen it. Never seen a bad motor mount either. I’d look elsewhere. All J08’s have a decent amount of vibration at 1000 rpm’s. Is it an automatic or manual ?

2007 Hino 268 -- Check Engine Light / Limp.... no codes read?

I don’t even think the turbo they billed you is for that truck. 05-07 turbos used a different vgt connection than the newer turbos. I would call Hino directly but that’s just me. Either way I’d be calling someone EDIT. I looked and that is in fact the correct turbo for a 2007 Hino.

2007 Hino 268 -- Check Engine Light / Limp.... no codes read?

They charged you for drilling out bolts, replacing all of the exhaust manifold gaskets, studs, nuts and spacers. They charged you for a turbo installation kit and a NEW turbo. I don’t see any of that being done. The reason I stated to contact Hino and not the dealer is that if the dealership...

2007 Hino 268 -- Check Engine Light / Limp.... no codes read?

Looking at the photos and the invoice. I see obvious issues. That is not a new turbo for one. I see they charged you for 18 exhaust manifold studs, nuts, and spacers. Those also do not look at all like they have been replaced. If you had more photos I of the exhaust manifold gaskets, studs and...

2007 Hino 268 -- Check Engine Light / Limp.... no codes read?

I am also curious . Was this done at a Hino dealer? I see no obvious issues as to why the clamp is blowing off. Hino went to a 2 clamp set up on the newer trucks. If it is constantly blowing off. I would try 2 clamps.

Hino 268 preheating malfunction light on the dash

Check your glow plugs to be sure they are all connected. There is a bus bar that connects them all together. Make sure all the connections are tight and the plug for them on the lh rear of the head is plugged in. Usually it is a connection issue or a bad glow plug. Do you have DX2 and a multimeter?

    Hino 338 heat not working

I would check the heater hoses going into the heater core and make sure they are getting hot. If the hoses are warm to the touch, then you could have a plugged heater core, a binding mode door or heater control cable binding. On the thermostat there is a “jiggle valve” that floats around on the...

2007 Hino 268 -- Check Engine Light / Limp.... no codes read?

$2200 for a turbo sounds about right. Plus a turbo installation kit. $1500 for labor seems a little steep. That being said door rates have gone up. If you have the turbo installed by the dealer you get a warranty on parts and labor (usually). Good to know you were able to pull the code. Let us...

2007 Hino 268 -- Check Engine Light / Limp.... no codes read?

You can diagnose a P0045 without a code. If the Linkage rod is binding that is a problem and would explain the symptoms you are describing. That being said. You can not pull engine codes through the 9 pin DLC. That port is for Allison transmission and Wabco brakes. All ECU/engine codes must come...

2007 Hino 268 -- Check Engine Light / Limp.... no codes read?

Sounds like a classic case of a P0045 code for the VGT actuator. There is a linkage rod on the turbocharger that attached to an actuator. The actuator moves the rod when commanded and increases/decreases boost pressure. When you turn the key on, it should move the rod down them up I believe...

2008 hino help injector pump puking

Alternatively you can grab the fuel line with 2 fingers and feel for a “pulse” of fuel. If you feel one( or two) with no pulse I would start by inspecting that injectors flow damper.

2007 Hino trans cooler line leaks

Some Hino’s do not show the trans cooler fitting as being available separately, and others do. To my knowledge they are all the same from 2005-2020. Freightliner uses the same fittings. I keep 2 spares in my tool box. I’ll try to get a fitting number for you Monday.

2008 hino help injector pump puking

Had a coworker replace 3 fuel pumps on a 2009. It finally made it’s way into my bay. I found someone had swapped the fuel supply and return lines at the frame mounted Davco filter. I have also seen people swap fuel lines up at the back of the head when replacing a transmission. The truck will...

2017 Hino 268 with an oil leak...

I’n the USA the cam housing/ Rocker box re-seal is covered for 5yrs 250,000 miles. The oil pan gasket is covered under the base 2yr warranty. I am not sure in Canada, but the cam housing re-seal would be a warrantable failure in the USA. I would double check that. Also if you are not replacing...
