OK sports fans. The man is interested in Expediting, not OTR in a tractor. Let's get back to the topic of the thread.

    Naughty Wipers

Try pulling off the steering column cover by removing 2-3 torx screws. Remove the 2 torx screws that attach the turn signal switch to the column. There are two electrical connections that must be unplugged. Clean the old grease out of the connections with contact cleaner and apply a good...

    2004 Chevrolet Wheelbearing Assembly

I don't remember all the details but I had the right front bearing only replaced on my 2000 Chev 3500. Luckily, I was about two blocks away from my mechanic of choice when a problem became apparent. Left front inspection at the time showed a servicable bearing.

Many folks put two rows, fore and aft, on the floor. I have mine on add-on walls at floor level and at 16". I should think no more that 2 feet above floor. Remember, for optimum securement, you want to secure the pallet and the freight on the pallet

    Is it realistic to ...

I don't know about Bolt's New England opportunities but FedEc Custom Critical and Panther do well in the New England area. The area bordered by Albany south to Harrisburg to Delmarva stay relatively busy. One of our carrier's consistent top performers drives a T/T out of southern CT. One...

    What is the difference/

RE: Classes Buster: It's as simple as RichM stated. A mini-van, like an Asto or a pickup truck would be classified as an 'A' unit and carry 'A' freight which is generaly defined as any freight up to 500# and not more than 4' x 4' x 4' in dimension, or basicly one pallet/skid. A 'B' truck...

Are you planning on being a solo in a Large (D) straight truck operated under lease with one of the well known carriers? The FSC is generally expected to bring the effective fuel cost to about $1.25. Will you have any documentation to support the 8 MPG? One carrier, FedEx Custom Critical...

    First Time for Everything

Many years ago and far far away, I was enjoying my umpteenth 25 cent beer with a few shipmates in a Boston tavern. Late in the evening, we were approached by a retired old salt who told us about the great treatment he had received at a Public Health Service Hospital. He went on to say that he...

    Tis the season

Tis the busy season. One slow week for one truck means nothing; that's just the nature of expediting. Hang in there and look at your monthly or quarterly activity to determine the slow or busy seasons.

Newbie looking to be a fleight owner

Fresh: The previous poster brings to mind additional expenses you may be expected to incur when seeking a driver for your truck. In addition to expecting you to cover orientation travel, food and lodging expenses, your driver will also need a DOT physical, a Drug and Alcohol Test and possibly...

RE: FYI Panther Ad on this site No CDL needed It's interesting that Panther's No CDL Required ad is contradicted in it's recruiting web site which states, in part, the following: Owners must have: Valid CDL Let's hope a voice of authority with clear up the confusion.

Should a teacher be allowed to carry a gun?

If a gun toting teacher with a permit had shot that 14 year old before he had a chance to off himself, she'd be facing a life of misery, in and out of the courtroom. Criminal and civil suits would follow her forever.

I'm having trouble with that two hands on the wheel thing. Must comm'l trucks all be automatic trans or would you start out in 13th gear? How would you turn on headlights at dusk? There's gotta be more to that story if there's any truth to it.

    What truck should I get?

Truckload and LTL carriers base their profits on stuffing a truck full of freight from one or more customers destined to one or more locations or consignees. The bigger the truck, the greater the opportunity for maximum return on investment. Expedited freight, on the other hand, is generally...
