Is anyone slow right now. It seems like last week, I was rolling hard. Now this week I can't get out of Georgia. What's going on?

Tis the busy season. One slow week for one truck means nothing; that's just the nature of expediting. Hang in there and look at your monthly or quarterly activity to determine the slow or busy seasons.

You are asking about busy or slow week by week? Are you new to expediting?

I think it is slow in certain areas. Not sure on the whole state of GA, but we had a truck Monday in Atlanta and they loaded for Ohio pretty quickly. A second truck arrived Tuesday afternoon and didn't get a load until late last night picking up this morning. Seems like there are alot of trucks from every expediter imaginable.
That is the first time in a while that we burnt almost two days getting out of that area.
As mentioned by others though, I would look at some of these areas by the month or quarter, rather than by a specific week.
And sometimes, it is just plain old luck. Oops....there's that "L" word again.

I dont know if it matters what company your with or where you are at the time you feel freight is slow.Even during the busy seasons, there is a lull in business,or there might be to many trucks in an area, that would make you feel that things are slow.
there are only so many loads for every company per day,and if there are too many trucks in that area, its going to seem slow
I just sat in Houston fot 2 days, and that hasnt happened to me in years, thats why I like Houston for a layover,of course i did get loaded to Ma.on Wed.,made up for sitting 2 days, even paid enough i could dead head home to Akron to have work done on my truck, and race my car on Sat.

Last week we spent 5 days in Tucson. At least it hasn't hot. But we did finally get an awesome load out on Monday. Just in time, I don't even like sitting at home for five days. :)

I was in Waco, TX and had to dh out of there last Friday. Nothing moving out of TX either....dh to Florida to take a break. Got to Atlanta on Weds night and got a load to Soddy Daisy, Tn on Thurs morning. I'd rather be in GA then TX any day. I've heard horror stories (speaking of halloween) from drivers who sat in TX for days.

umm,

I dont know where a good weeks starts or a bad weeks ends. Seems that there is Never a load " Team load " comes across my QC. I have been running now 6 mo and maybe, with out digging out my files and spread sheets and ect to give a real total, but if i get a 600 plus mile run, im in the gold. the longest run yet was 1500 miles, second to that was 1200 and a 950 mile trip, which all has had lots of DH to get back into a freight lane. does this seem to be the normal? or is it that im just the lucky one who ends up where i should not be?. anyway....im off to another great week of ummm....wondering?

smokey,
in expedite a 500 mile run that has to go straight thru is a team run. Especially if there is very much deadhead in front of it. A solo rarely sees anything much over 350-400 on a weekday. Unless there is time for a break in there somewhere, and there usually isn't. This is becuase most companies figure eta based on the truck averaging 45 mph. With that said in 11 hours a solo can only turn 495 miles. If there is any deadhead that will subtract from the solos loaded miles. What I mean if they have to dh 95 miles tp pick up they will only have time to run 400. So what can seem like a short run alot of times actually is a team run. I know some may disagree, but this is just what I saw in my limited experience.

Well that what im saying, we are getting them single driver loads to often than none. never need a team on this truck but maybe 1 or 2 times in a 7 day streach.

Came into GA from FL last Thursday.

I am still in GA today.

Got one load offer, but the QC had me logged closer than I really was to the load. Could not get around Atlanta traffic at 4PM to be at the shipper before they closed, so the load went to another unit.

Please throw up a prayer for me before you go to bed tonight.

Bless you....

Reverend, I'll do that. Even though I'm an atheist- because if you believe it will help, it won't hurt me, or cost anything, so why not?
And you can throw one up for me too, if you would- because even though I don't believe it will help, it couldn't hurt, eh? ;)
And if I should get a 2500 mile load tomorrow, it'll be luck, nothing more! ;)
Seriously, I hope your luck improves soon.

These kinds of posts just amaze me. I don't want to trash on someone, but for "pete sake", why are you still sitting there? Your in Georgia. Go to SC or TN. Or.....go home. What is the point in just sitting there?
Case in point, we had a truck sitting with a first out that we burnt a extra day on. Surrounding areas like Greenville, Chattanooga, and Birmingham had no trucks. Did anyone move? No.
Then you wonder why you aren't running.
In our case with a first out it made sense to stay, but not the other 14 trucks or so.

We try not to stay in an area if there are numerous trucks sitting there too. But, Murphy's Law, when we move to another area we'll get a load right back in the direction we came from :+
