    Dry run and Dwell time

I agree Leo that the system needs to be automated on many departure calls. The figure that I heard thrown around was that only 35% of the total calls are automated. I do not believe that it is a high priority item right now. Dwell time starting as soon as we unload seems as if it should work...

    Dry run and Dwell time

We have been discussing the following issues and wonder what others think of these policies: What would happen if the slate was wiped clean and we no longer had Express Centers? What would fair compensation be for a truck that is pre dispatched several days before a load is to pickup and...

    E-Book reader, anyone?

What I really like about having my e reader is the fact when I hear of a book I want to read I can at the spur of the moment down load it and start reading in the evening. I have no clue why some books I prefer to listen to and others I like to read. I have found I carry less books than I...

Note to newbies about guns in truck !

There are many differing opinions concerning having a firearm in a commercial vehicle. We all know that there are no federal regulations prohibiting firearms in CMV. Some states allow, some don't and, since we cross state lines all of the time, firearms should not be in the truck. All of this...

    2011 Expedite Expo Recognition

Last year there were tons of choices! I was amazed at the choices of food that came out of the trucks. It really is amazing what can be made in a truck and brought to a pot luck! That buttermilk pie is a heart attack waiting to happen! I have determined why I do not like that pie is I am...

CSA 2010 - The Elephant in the Room

I agree it is business as usual. When a driver goes into CSA 2010 with no point the business has been run right and there has not been a case of whoops which can happen to anyone. A clearance light can go out as you pull onto the scale. Those that have not paid much attention to these rules I...

CSA 2010 - The Elephant in the Room

Steve Pollock, editor of Movin' Out has written a comprehensive driver friendly article in the October issue of this magazine. I found the CSA article well written and educational from a driver’s standpoint. You can read the article yourself in the October issue of Movin' Out or on their web...

    Twenty Two Years FedEx/Roberts

22 Year is amazing! Great job. I starting thinking of all the changes you have been through and you have hung in there through thick and thin. The stories you can tell I imagine are fascinating. You have to have a lot of tenacity to have not just said to heck with it I am moving to another...

    2011 Expedite Expo Recognition

Thinking of alternatives to that buttermilk pie! There are lots of really good items that can be grilled that do not need BBQ sauce on them and are very good. When planning the meat for next year I think we will keep this in mind.

    2011 Expedite Expo Recognition

OVM brought up an interesting thought on another thread wondering if many of us will recognize each other. It appears as many of the posters have decided to change their eating habits and become slim, trim and I a m sure debonair. It will be interesting to each other again at the Expo and I...

    newbies,would you do it again

This lifestyle is something a person either thrives on or they absolutely hate it and look for any excuse to get out. Be it the carrier, the truck, their owner, the regulations and the list goes on. The other question is off topic!

    newbies,would you do it again

Yes! We left good paying jobs with benefits when our kids left home. We first tried the truckload carriers as drivers and quickly figured out that was not for us. We learned a lot there which I believe led us to appreciated that much more expediting. When we hear complaints about...

    New Hoover Dam bypass bridge

We have been lucky enough to hike around that area several times while the bridge was being built and were each time amazed at how beautiful that bridge is. We cannot wait to see it again in its finished state.
