People's feelings since 2004 have moderated quite a bit to 2015. That's why you're seeing a change in people's attitudes to the same sex question. I've never seen people's attitude change as quickly on any other social issue.

From what I've seen on the Ford Transit forum the people that got the diesel engines are doing pretty good with them. But diesel engine sales are definitely lagging far behind gas engine sales.

If you're not going to drive the van yourself definitely don't get the 3.5 then. Someone else driving your van with the 3.5 probably won't drive sensibly and that engine will suck the fuel if you have a heavy foot. From everything I've heard the 3.7 gets the job done it just revs a lot higher.
