While I'm bored...came across this while learning my big truck rules...I've never stopped but VIRGINIA Weight Inspection Requirement – Permanent Weigh Stations 24VAC20-81-250 Operators of trucks having a registered gross weight in excess of 7,500 pounds are required by law to drive their...

Oh and newbies, what I'm talking about you need contacts, you'll be on the phone all day every day...just lease to start out, it's a different world when you rely on YOU to get anywhere...and YOU are responsible for any problems...calling dispatch isn't an option when YOU are Dispatch :D Enough...

For a 100 mile radius? Other bonuses are 7-5, 5 days a week and home every night...sounds kinda good from the couch (And put this in the perspective of a 10,000 dollar truck not 100k)

Remember I've never been in a straight...but even local reefer work in the GTA pays $2-3000 a week...with the bonus of a physically fit physique from all the driver deliveries

Leased to carrier? Those ones he seems to pass on to others...kicking myself for getting under the plates and insurance of mine, although I had no complaints till this month... A GOOD carrier makes this job easy and fun (well almost) its a little unfair to turn after my first slow period...not...

I've gone against my personality and made a network of friends who drive vans and straights. The only consensus is - those who lease to a carrier make less than those who are independent on their own authority. I'm not sure the straight guy would take 1.50 a mile (With all the extra costs and...

Which brings up another point...if you're not happy about rates...quit and go independent...that would accomplish more than a strike (I was kidding about that) part of what I really think is going on, too many people leased to a carrier on forced dispatch that are told "that's all we can get out...

Did some soul searching. (Ziggi didn't seem to think that was worth answering) if its less than .85 I'll stay home and do local. Just in case any carrier types are reading. BTW I would take .50 a mile to cut the carrier out (hi "boss", yes I'm serious)

Sorry, I missed that I was cutting a hot dog in half I don't really know who's side to take. I do know I had a bad week and have no money. But next week it might change. Start a garden and 90 days dry food supply I guess. Has it ever been any different in trucking?

I think those retiring with no regard for setting aside funds for replacement of the truck are killing the rates right now :j/k:

Let me know if you find anything useful. I heard they dont care about anything but the tag on the frame at a weigh station...so unless the id plate is changed, what it came with is whats legal...how to load it so the front is legal is what I need to know as well
