Taxes and politics or how to make a million

THawk: The one income household mentality put the non income producing partner at tremendous risk of destitution - what happens to a woman who is incapable of supporting herself, much less children, too, if the income is no longer available? Every able adult should be capable of self support.

    Alot of freight?

The Classic: probably the worst truck on earth to manuever through really tight spots, but great when you need to sit on the hood, to scrub the windshield, lol, or want to study the night sky...:) The trucks & vans sitting at places could be taking a mandatory break, or waiting for the next...

RE: looking to find a lasting relationship with sl We will know it's Bernie when we see him - he'll be the guy with a bunch of celery hanging from his rear view mirror, lol:P

after reading front page on idling

IdleAire is a good solution - except there aren't nearly enough of them, and many areas don't have any at all. Maybe supply will catch up to demand, eventually, but drivers need a place to park today! And just how "rested" are they, if they are trying to sleep in an uncomfortable environment...

    anyone tell me

When you are turned down for credit, you are entitled to know why, but often have to ask in writing, and are also entitled to a free copy of your credit record once a year, from each of the 3 main credit reporting agencies. (Equifax, TransUnion, & the third one that I suddenly can't remember...

question about my co driver taking medications

That's like asking "which carrier is best?" The answer to your question depends on the specific medication involved. Like painkillers, it's a large group, and there's a bit of difference between Tylenol & OxyContin.... In your shoes, I'd research the specific antidepressant being used, so...

    Doc and Marda's Truck!

And JJ, this is where you step up & turn off the spellcheck - it's "Git er done" lol. (Just doesn't have the same effect when you spell correctly!) :P

    Memorial Day

I am almost always antiwar, believing there are few instances in which war is justified. But I know it wasn't the soldiers who decided to go to war - they are honorable people, risking their lives to fulfill their duty to our country. I appreciate that, and I too, thank the soldiers that I see...

    Little Green Pill

Broom, it says the 2 owners of the company that sells the little green pill are in court to defend their claims that the pills, made of napthalene, (mothballs' main ingredient), increase fuel mileage by 25%. The state of Texas, (or Bexar County, not sure which), says the pills are toxic...

    the future of expediting

Leo, that's not funny - I'm starting to think the shippers probably have enough political clout to convince the DOT that it would be ok if we got our sleep break in a vertical position!:o

    Been out for a while

Laura, From one "Grace" to another - welcome back, & I'm glad it wasn't any worse! (I once wiped out both my knees, falling down the steps, carrying a basket of laundry - you'd think, after 10 years, I'd remember to watch for the dog, who loved to lay in the middle of the steps, & never, ever...

    memorial day poll

Like Moot, I make it home for the holidays - not so much because I really want to, (only Christmas is important, for me), but because I drive solo, in a van, & live in a good area for freight. I am home now, but would leave in a heartbeat for a load, if a decent one came up. I really admire...

    Idling Is Soooo Over!

RE: Returning to the topic RE: Idling Is Soooo Ove It's just human nature to want to retaliate, when someon's rudeness wakes you up, and personally, I liked Broom's solution better than Rich's, (it's ok Rich - I should have been up already, anyway) but I don't actually do it, anymore than I...

That's good to know, as apparently some shippers & carriers don't seem to know it...I'd much rather take the dry run, than the risk.

    The Latest in Tattoos

The tattoos may be up to the minute, (yukk!), but the implants are used medically, when more skin is required for grafting, like over burn tissue, than a person can spare. So every implant may not be what it looks like...(But I'd be willing to bet that some of those people are exactly what they...

    "New Driver Fee"

An escrow account is something an owner is entitled to insist on, but if the purpose of the money withheld isn't clear to the driver, (do they not have a contract? Did they not read the contract?), then the driver needs to be a little more inquisitive, sounds like. :o
