Trans cooler for GM 4L80 4sp auto

That does sound like a freak thing. That is a great tranny. I agree with the above statement, find out what happened. I have that trans/in one of my older C/V's behind a diesel. It does have a cooler but has never given me a problem. I kind of go over board on maintenance and service...

    Turbo blowing freeze plugs

Let's see if I can explain this. Detroits sometimes have a freeze plug problem caused by the thermostat. If the water heats up to operating temperature and the water pump is pumping at high rpms with the engine running but the thermostat does not open all the way. When this happens the added...

    Dodges new Sprinter replacement

That would be kind of scary taking on a new truck new in country. I can just imagine the parts problems and all. Wait a couple of years and get the bugs out. Actually looks like a Sprinter from the driver back.

    Break Down Help

Thanks for sharing those, yes they are keepers. Truckdown and NTTS are both good. Most people also don't know that the Ryder Rental shops do outside work and carry a good sized inventory on Sprinter parts. Most people don't even think about them.

Countdown to Another Sprinter Killer- Sort Of

No, the lower the RPM's the cooler it is but still is hot. It is supposed to be hot in order to burn the CO2 out. Class 8 trucks will be a problem till people get used to handling them. Matter of fact all trucks will be a problem. I have a friend who hauls freight in his Sprinter in the UK...

    water from the tail pipe

This one I know. Your driving a Chevy. Believe it or not it's designed that way. I had an old 350 that rotted the exhaust out from the moisture. I wrote Chevy and they told me all their engines do that. The higher the concentration of moisture the better your engine was running. That...

    C/V's Dead?

I did miss-quote. I meant to say people will be loosing more trucks. (Repo's). That's what I meant. I forgot what the number of small trucking company's that went out two years ago because of fuel prices but it was staggering.

Countdown to Another Sprinter Killer- Sort Of

Urea is a blend of Ammonia and Nitrogen and water. It does the same thing as a catalytic converter but updated. Supposed to be designed for the diesel market and not gas. When it is heated in the after exhaust pipe it brings the exhaust up 700 -800 degrees to burn the carbon emissions (CO2)...

Countdown to Another Sprinter Killer- Sort Of

Depends on the engine manufacturer but Duramax is late 10 models. The larger engines are also 10 models in 11 model trucks until they run out then upgrade. I think the new Ford engines are all 11 models and are equipped as such.

Countdown to Another Sprinter Killer- Sort Of

I'm not sure about spout size on the Sprinter but the Duramax it also being under the hood and 35 gal capacity is a pour through a funnel deal as well. A real draw back for a commercial operation. I would like to know how many local companies using these have drivers that will completely...

    Chevy express oil pressure

I don't know why I did not think of that. Good idea especially when there's two truck doing the same thing. Kind of unlikely two oil pumps would go.

Countdown to Another Sprinter Killer- Sort Of

I did not see a picture of it, but it said debut in about a week. Reading the spec page it looks to be a Sprinter competitor with more loading area (700) cu ft. The only draw back I see is the urea tank along with fuel. That's the one reason I'm going back to the gas engine. Right now the...

    C/V's Dead?

Just read this morning on my financial page where gas and diesel will be going up 50 a gallon more over the next two weeks. I wonder how many big trucks will be shutting down because of that. Like another reply stated that truckers w/o apu's will have to shut down regardless of the weather...

    Reefer with Lift Gate

Ditto!!!! I burned out my lift gate. I don't think lift gates work very well on C/V's.:D

    Chevy express oil pressure

If your not running above 40pds at hwy speeds and that many miles I would change the pump. It's not hard and it's a lot cheaper than a motor. You can change it out in a couple of hours if you know how. While your changing it I would look at the number 1 rod bearing and check see the wear...

    Leaky Wheel Seal

That's says a lot. Most newer drivers might check their truck in the morning than never again that day. That could have really cost you had you ignored it and the hub ran dry and the wheels took off and passed you going down the road. That could be really embarrassing.

    american diesel vanners

Tell me about it. I know how to get the mileage up on all the C/Vs its whether or not you want to invest $3k. Electric auxiliary transmission. <Gearjammers.com) I had one on a p/up, hot shot. Greatest think since sliced bread. I am putting one on my new Max when I get it. Should be...

Maintenance Costs For A 2004 Cargo Van

I bought my 02 from a couple who had it parked in their back yard for several years and hardly used it. They were retired and when the weather was nice they did some expediting. They did it to pass the time. I have a 10 model also with a 6.0/3.73 with a driver on it. It's averaging about...
