On 4/18/11 we purchased our first fuel for the Caffcadia and since then have added 22301 gallons with a lifetime fuel mileage average of 11.429 using the odometer.  These are true numbers as our ONAN generator has a separate fuel tank that is fueled with off road diesel.

I spent a little time playing with a few of the figures on one of my spreadsheets and came up with these interesting totals. Assuming that the 254898 miles where all authorized, with a average fuel price of $3.50 and a fuel surcharge of .256 I came up with the following:  Our straight trucks FSC is figured at 9 mpg.

11.429-MPG Truck

Miles = 254898

Average Fuel Price = $3.50

Fuel Cost $78,956.55

MPG = 11.429

Fuel Sur Charge paid $65,254.88

Total Fuel Cost of fuel to date less FSC:

$13,702

9-MPG Truck

Miles = 254898

Average Fuel Price = $3.50

Fuel Cost = $99,127

MPG = 9

Fuel surcharge paid $65,254.88

Total Fuel Cost to Date =

$33872

When we were researching purchasing this truck figures like these were used as a determining factor in our decision.  The savings of $1680 a month in fuel over a 9 mpg truck was the tipping point on deciding it was not only time to upgrade, we could also get the Bolt Custom Sleeper that would allow us the extra comforts of a home away from home.

The DDEC report shows the fuel MPG at 11.94, idle time of 4.54% and no parked regens.  The cruise speed is usually set at 58 mph where is applicable and our average speed for all miles works out to be 53.5.   We have all ready this year had one fill-up over 13 MPG and look forward to seeing what the truck does as the temperature warms up.
