How many steps in a day?

The Up was purchased at a Best Buy and if the Up malfunctions it can be returned to a Best Buy and will be replaced.   The Up works with my I-Phone with an App that tracts all of my activities and if I want I can track my food.   To get the date off of the Up I plug it into my phone.

When in the truck I do not wear the Up when sleeping only during the daytime.   What I wanted to know was my average steps while out on the road and we are running pretty hard.   The recommended steps is 10,000 a day and the only time I get this many is when we walk to the grocery store or go for a walk on the weekends.

The worst shock I received was when two loads lined up to where I never got out of the truck in 24 hours.   This was one of those days where unloaded in a secure area and it took a long long time, then we had to rush to our next load that was in a secure area and before I knew it I was heading for bed.   My total steps for the day were 715 and that did not equal calories consumed.

Running secure loads often means that we are not able to get out and walk as we should and an alternative solution is needed such as the FIT System (Freightliner In-cab Training system).   The Up highlighted for me how little movement we actually are able to get when running team loads with an ASAP delivery or a delivery into a secure area where getting out of the truck is strongly discourage.

The 1/2 break that is now required with the HOS is great for walking when not under a dual driver load where we cannot leave the truck.   This new gadget has highlighted for me how little exercise we are actually getting as drivers.
