We planned on at least 50 people for Barnapalooza which started pretty early in the day and for several people the party started the day before.   We have family members and friends who stayed at the house and who started showing up several days in advance.   All who arrived early helped with the last minute details.   The night before there were several that come out and we played games with the big hit was “Things” and “Mad Gab”.   We had excitement this year as the weather turned ugly and we were all out in our metal shop building.   We all trooped to our basement and continued on.   The next day we had rain, rain and more rain.    We had a little clearing so we were able to get in a few rounds of target practice with hand guns.   We also wanted to throw a few clay pigeons and try out our shotguns, but the rain stopped that.   Some friends brought out their ATV’s, so we rode in the mud, on a trail I had been working on.   That turned out to be a blast in the mud but we were sure a mess and so were our 4-wheelers.

We all cleaned up pretty nice and were ready for the pot luck dinner.   We provide the meat and everyone brought side dishes and their own drinks.   Nicki’s friend, Josh, set up his awesome DJ equipment for the evening, and he also was the Master of Ceremonies. Josh also took care of the firework display and without him the party would have been lacking!   Even with all the rain we were able to have a huge bonfire and some sat around it holding their umbrellas, enjoying the evening and each other’s company.  Even with the rain and the mud Nicki did a great job of planning the party and all of our guests had a blast.

Bob and I are ready to get back on the road.   We have found that we lead such a quiet controlled life that so many people and so much going on all of the time exhausts us.   We enjoyed the party and we enjoyed seeing everyone and we cannot wait for the next party, but for now we need to recover and get back to work.
