It's a Team's Life
Geocaching
Luck was on our side; Tom and Katy were at home and had time
for us to visit.
They are both outdoor
people like us and we found out there are tons of things to see and do in
Casper.
We timed our visit right as the
Pathfinder Dam was overflowing.
The last
time this happened was in 1984.
We were
able to really get some great views of the water as it cascaded down the
waterfall.
After we toured the area we went on a geocach hunt.
Tom and
Katy have found several in the area and had downloaded the coordinates for four
new locations.
The area we were in was gorgeous
and any excuse to stay near the stream or in the mountains sounded good to
us.
Our first hunt did not turn out well
as we did not locate the cache.
The
second coordinate was on the far side of the dam in a very public place and we
did not find that location either.
Bob
and I were a little discouraged, but Tom and Katy knew what they were doing. Our
next location was near the river and we were all afraid the river might have
flooded this location out.
We were in
luck. Tom located the cache and then had Bob and I look for it to see how they
can be hidden.
It was like uncovering
riches; we were so thrilled.
We signed
our names and left a trinket and put the cache back.
Our next location was in a wooded area; Bob
and I were at a loss to where this one could be hidden as there were no
rocks.
Bob located this cache though as
it was under some dead branches.
We had
a great time locating the caches and also enjoyed the company.
I believe we could find some of these caches on our travels and near some of the truck stops we are parked at. This sounds like another great hobby to get us out of the truck and doing something non-truck related. Our only cost in this would be the receiver. The site is free and spending the time looking for a cache sounds like a great stress reliever.
