This year we stayed out longer so we could be home for a few weeks during the time our daughters plan Barnapalooza at our house.   This is our fourth year to host this party and it is a great way for us to meet our neighbors or to once again see our neighbors. They all seem to remember us but since we only see many of them once a year we usually have no clue whom we are talking to.

We also plan projects while we are at home and we usually run from morning till dark each day and fall into bed exhausted.   This time one of our projects was to paint the basement.   This started out as a very simple project until we stopped by some friend’s house and saw how they had used corrugated tin as a wainscot.   This of course led to needing new trim, new light fixtures and some of our furniture painted to match.

The pressure was we needed to get all of this finished and put back together for Barnapalooza as our house will be full of people who spend the night or even a few days at the house.   I am glad to say this has been accomplished and we are now on to other projects getting ready for company.   We usually have over fifty people at the house most of the day on Saturday so we need to have large areas of our ten acres mowed, the shop cleaned up and the party lights hung.   We also get out all of the serving tables, the corn hole games, the washer games, the croquet game, and also the targets for shooting.   We also have dead trees to cut down for the huge bonfire that we have each year.

By the time all of these event are over we are ready to go back to work for a few months and relax!
