Bob and I really like our family physician as he has a great sense of humor and keeps us laughing while we are in the office.   We are lucky as both of us have low blood pressure and are overall pretty healthy.   At our last checkup two years ago Bob was on the edge of needing cholesterol medicine and we were anxiously waiting on our blood work to see if our new eating style has helped.   I am pleased to report Bob is no longer anywhere near needing medicine.   His numbers were very good as were mine.   We have both increased our good HDL and lowered our bad LDL and I hope to continue this trend.   Our shock though was on the vitamin D level as both of us are very deficient in this area.   We both like being outside and neither one of us are good about using sunscreen so it was a total shock when the doctor’s office called.   We both need a prescription as our levels are too low to use vitamins to help us.   We are to take our 50,000 mg of vitamin D for a month and then have more blood work done.   Some of the problems with having to low of Vitamin D is we are at a  higher risk of stroke, heart attack, respiratory infections, and catching a cold or getting the flu.   This news came as a surprise to us and we do not get sick and neither one of us has ever had the flu.
