Do I need that?

I literally stuffed the truck with everything but the kitchen sink.   I had backups to my backups and we would want or need nothing for at least a month or two!   I knew we would have access to laundry as most of the truck stops have them.   I was still prepared for the four seasons to hit before we made it back home.

Over time I have cut back on many of the things I thought I could not live without.   I have also learned that we are not on a safari and there is a grocery store in every town that we can get into.    We often had trouble due to not enough experience when we were in the tractor trailer getting into some grocery stores.   We usually went to the front of the store instead of the rear of the store that unloads trucks each day.   Bob insisted while we were in the tractor trailer that all my stuff I had to have would cause us to get an overweight ticket.

I do not carry as much as I used to, but I could still cut a lot out if needed and reduce our overall weight by several hundred pounds.  Luckily in this truck getting an overweight ticket for being over our maximum weight would be hard to do. In the fall and the spring we carry both our winter cloths and our summer clothes as In the fall and the spring we carry both our winter cloths and our summer clothes as in a 24 hour period we might need both.

One of the items I have figured out I do not ever want to live without is our large 7 cu inch refrigerator freezer.   I would be willing to give up storage space to keep this item.   The ability to keep a store of fresh food on hand is worth the space it takes up.   When I think of the years we had the tiny dorm refrigerator I do not know how we did it.   I know that we did not eat as healthy as we are able to now.

We are once again heading home and I will be taking all summer items out of the truck and be adding a few more blankets and long sleeve shirts.   I like to crochet and I in the winter I keep a few of the blankets I have made to curl up in when watching a movie and letting a storm rage outside.

The comforts of home allow us to stay out as long as we do and to be comfortable.   I do not like clutter and when I have too much in the truck that I cannot put away I am not able to relax.   So when I pack the truck I think a little longer on “Do I really need that?”
