Commercial truck driving is listed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics as the 9th deadliest job.   There are many times in a day when we are cut off and have to stop sooner than expected due to a car needing to get to a light or traffic jam first.  We often have inattentive drivers swerve into our lanes and also at the last minute figure out they are about to miss their exit and swerve across the lanes.   We have had people get behind us as close as possible to either draft or use us to follow when they get drowsy as a lead vehicle.   There are not many days that go by that we are not in a new area of town looking for a new business where we are either going to pick up a load or deliver a load.   We are almost always in unfamiliar territory maneuvering our vehicle, looking for an address, and watching to make sure the motorist around us are safe. Each day we get through safe and sound is a day to be proud of.

Truck Driver Appreciation week started with a nice thank you get together at the offices in Green, OH.   There were games and a very tasty pasta lunch.   We enjoyed the company of other drivers and also many of the office staff we deal with on a daily or weekly basis.   The safety department was very gracious welcoming the drivers and handing out a few goodies.   We always enjoy seeing Kathy Brooks as we have known her since we first leased on with FedEx Custom Critical almost six years ago. Tonya Restrepo badgered everyone to join in on the games which turned out to be a lot of fun. Tonya was the game director and she likes to keep everyone involved. Director of Operations, Jason Fredrick gave a nice welcome speech, while Terry O’Connell talked about FedEx Custom Critical and CSA2010.   We enjoyed a nice afternoon and even won one of the door prizes.   We look forward to another safe year out here on our nation’s highways.   If you bought it a truck brought it.
