It's a Team's Life
And they Survived part 2
The first thing we saw was the wrinkled tail light box wrapped around the control panel for our Interlift lift gate. The gate has been pushed back under the truck about ten inches on the passenger side and about five inches on the driver’s side. The extent of the damage to the lift gate will not be known until the gate is removed from under the truck.
A lot of the glass from the car flew from the car and scrapped down the side of the truck and underneath it. There are glass scratches high up on the box all the way to the passenger door. Right now it looks like the glass skipped the sleeper and only took a small chunk of paint out of the center of the passenger door. When I stepped out of the truck the steps were covered in glass. The glass also slid across all of our toolboxes and damaged the finish. We are amazed that we are finding glass inside of the toolboxes, as our toolboxes have always been waterproof. It appears as if we are going to need new signs on the passenger side of our truck and on the rear doors.
The inertia of the impact bent the door opening of the box
downward and tore the metal at the corner of the box.
The doors hinges are bent near the bottom,
which makes it difficult to shut the passenger side rear door, but the door
still seals.
We will learn more after we
get the truck into the repair shop and an expert goes over the damage as they
will know what can be fixed and what will need to be replaced.
