When I started walking February of 2009 my goal was to lose weight and get into better shape.   I have always enjoyed walking when at home but around truck stops was another matter.  Once I made up my mind to walk I was surprised at how many really nice areas there are to walk around a truck stop.   The miles began racking up and the weight started dropping off.   I also immediately noticed a change in my energy level for the better.   I also became involved with the Women in Trucking health challenge with Bob Perry, The Trucker Trainer and started finally learning about nutrition.   Bob Perry  in a very inspirational person and I have learned a lot from him and I hope to continue to learn.   Bob Perry  and I were talking at the MATS truck show about how many miles you can walk in a year and he brought up a contest he wanted to start.   The 1000 miles walked club and I said I am all ready there!   Bob went into overdrive and started coming up with ideas on how he wanted to present me with a 1000 mile walked belt buckle at the Great American Truck Show in Dallas.   The presentation was held at a VIP event that Midnight Trucking Network Radio sponsored.   I had two representatives with me on stage from FedEx Custom Critical, Marianne Tamminen and Terry O’Connell, along with Eric Harley, Midnight Trucking Network Radio, and Bob Perry, The Trucker Trainer.

This year I am not getting in as much walking due to the fact we are running much harder than last year which is good.   We have attended many truck shows this year spreading the word about exercising while on the road.   While in Las Vegas and also in Dallas I was able to be on TV talking about fitness while on the road.

I have the following links for the TV show, for Bob Perry’s Roadside Medical site, and also for Women in Trucking!

Bob Perry’s next health challenge will be issued to teams and the information about this will be on the Women In Trucking web site.   I would highly encourage you to check this site out.   I did not win the health challenge but I did win in all of the knowledge I gained.
