Yellow Pensky Trucks

If you guys want to DO something about these trucks instead of just whining on a forum here's an idea. Supposedly they are big into auto freight and many are based in Chicago, correct? Then I would suggest stopping and visiting the weigh stations between Chicago and Detroit and talking with the DOT cops and tell them point blank what is going on in your mind. Take some pics with you of these 350 and 450 (3500,4500) trucks with the dual wheels and the under 10 gvw markings and point out how limited they are under 10,000 lbs and your suspicions that they are mislabeled, overloaded or both.

You could also get the scale phone numbers and if you are following one approaching make a call to them or the state police.

Just remember that the guy you get popped may be running for the same carrier as you do.

Oh you mean be a snitch right? Where I come from snitches get stiches. Just leave um alone! Forget about it you will sleep better

They don't bother me a bit. I was speaking to the whining whiners who are here bellyaching but doing nothing. I say live and let live.

Each additional carrier is a one time 20.00 fee. That's it. I have renewed 3 times. it went down the second time. It stayed the same the third time.

They should stop charging you after 10 additional insured or at least they stopped charging me to add on after that. another thing that can effect your rates are the mileage limit. if you stay under 500 miles from your garaged location I guess its a little cheaper.

when I was leased to panther I am pretty sure 1 paid more than a $100 per unit per week in deductions. if my insurance was free I would not be able to bump up my day rates. that's set by the drivers not me. most of them make more than what they would on a 60/40 split working for your so called respectable carrier. Maybe if you ran vans you would see it is not such a bad deal.

Now thats what I'm talking about...You are the only driver out there that has shared something that looks like a plan,I Thank You.I hoping for something less timely as we all know how those DOT Officers like to talk.LOL. Everyone else want discuss the cost of insurance,.....These people are killing there business too. They not felt it yet. What we need is Wanted Posters like the Wild West.

I had occasion to pay attention to one of these things while loading at O'Hare one evening. I didn't notice what, exactly, he loaded but I did get a good look at the markings. He had markings on his door of less than 10,000 GVW, and inside the box the maximum payload was listed as 2650 if I remember that right. That low payload gets my attention because it means you have to be real careful what, exactly you put in that huge box. My 2500-series van can haul more weight legally. Now, of course volume is different, and he can pull four or five skids where I can only manage two-- but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that those four skids couldn't be that heavy and still be legal. Then there's air drag. If I'm going to pull something that big that drinks that much gasoline-- note that most of these trucks are gasoline-- I want something in exchange for what I'm having to spend. A 2600 lb payload just isn't going to make it. So-- I won't be buying one of these any time soon, anyway.
