Would you run for a company if they had this?

Consider the savings there G if you looked for a company that operated like we used to....

0 deductions; 0 escrow; cell phones; 0 holdback; FJ fuelcard. We used an inexpensive gps mounted in the box for required tracking of loads. Simple, efficient and effective

I never contracted vans, sprinters, or, anything less than 22 ft and 14,000.....Just ain't natural.

That's why I was asking about the deductions, the rate could be lower, but without alot of the deductions that many charge, the pay could be greater in the long run. This is how it was at Polly.

Did you not contract vans, etc because you didnt have a need for them, or you just wanted to stay a s/t company?

Too time consuming to double, triple up to allow satisfactory revenue.

So because sprinter people think they are so special, they should just be on par with vans.

I found that companies that "sell" sprinter services do it for a couple reasons, one is to make their margin a bit fatter and the other is to get the stuff to the customer faster - no logs.

The amazing thing may just be that the carrier (anyone may do) may be telling the owner how they are charging the customer "sprinter rates" while actually getting the load from a load board or partner agreement.

I've did that Kokomo run a few times in the distant past, no tight times in a truck - it isn't an E-1 exclusive customer by the way. I don't know what the big deal is, I picked up and then ran it taking my time. I thought Jenny left?

So Dave, seeing you are coming up with rates, what about cube vans (a.k.a. box vans) which can take more than a sprinter, don't they deserve more money because they can take more than a sprinter?

Sprinters have a one skid advantage but depending on the weight they have with all the crap the driver hauls, they may not be able to take 2500 lbs.

Don't carriers need to confirm weight capacity?

Which one's ask for a weight ticket?

Yeah..needed a weight ticket for E-1..but you know that can be fudged...

I look at it this way....a CV is say 8 feet 48" tall...a customer wants more space ? Then they should pay for it. Simple logic.

Example 200,000 Sq ft warehouse...YOU rent 150,000 ft of it....should the leasor just let you use the remaining 50,000 ft because it is empty? Ain't happenin...It is a USER PAY SYSTEM everywhere in business...you want it..it has a price.

Were NOT special...

BTW Jenny was let go last year in the layoffs. and NOT recalled.

when i had a c unit on with fedexcc i could carry 13,300
i carry d unit freight and got paid if they wouldn't pay i didn't have to it carry and there was nothing they could hold againest me

and same with sprinter i'm able to carry 4 1/2 pallet's
and what is required so why should i be paid for the job

Sure I'd run for those CV rates as a solo, as long as there was NO restrictions on the hours i could run, restrict my hours and then the rate isn't as attractive

and bolt requires a weight slip....

Other than the Sprinter talk, I will ask again. Would you run for a company with these rates?

the rates dont sound bad, deductions a little to high. the real ? is what is this really all about other than wondering if people would run for these rates. i can see an established co. being able to get the rates or one with their own auth., but a new startup i think would have a hard time unless it had contracts or dedicated customers. we all know the bid board rates. so what gives dave? really good scenario.

I for one would not even wake up for $.80 a mile. Up that to at least $1.00 and I might think about it.

Why would ya be asking (or suggesting) for a xtra dime per mile for the fleet owners??
What makes em so special over the single person? Same work same pay in my book.
Im thinking most are already being taking better care of now with load offers over the single owner..And yes I have the T.O and Pro numbers that prove it...Not all the time but it happens often..

Because most carriers have a bonus plan in place for fleet owners already...Bruno wants to be able to also lure fleets to his side...

I see,,, then bonus em at sign up..Not with each load

Yeah..i would agree with that but that is NOT the way it goes...
some are making .05-.08 for ALL miles IF they maintain X amount of trucks in service. I've also witnessed in my years fleet trucks getting moved with a CV load before a single operator....Do I think it is fair? NO.....BUT that said it is the way this business has been almost since the git-go..
I've loaded with a straight getting a CV load when there were 3 other CV's back in the lot....You know it happens you just don't like to see it up close and personal...

A single straight truck owner flying solo is at a real disadvantage.
