I am in no way trying to say all decisions by the courts are right. What i am pointing out is cops are hired to uphold the law as deemed legal by the courts or enacted by politicians if it has not reached the courts. For them to ignore such would be ignoring their duty. They should not decide what law they will or will not enforce.

They have no choice. "I vas chust following ze ordnung" is not a valid defense.

Everyone, even police officers, have a duty to themselves and everyone else, to insure that they do NOT become part of a problem. Everyone has to decide when enough is enough and IF that means refusing to enforce 'laws' that are in contradiction of the Constitution, so be it. THAT is the difference between a moral, responsible adult, and part of the rabble.

Each police officer is an individual. They must decide, for themselves, what is right or wrong. Each must be judged on their own merit and deeds. One cannot 'label' all officers any more than one can 'label' all members of a race.

That may be true. But you certainly can view them with suspicion. I look at it this way... they are trained NOT to trust; and to twist your words in order to trip you up. You may have to depend on them from time to time, as emergencies do occur. Just don't talk to them any more than you have to.

I don't trust the police DEPARTMENTS. They are part of the 'larger government'. I have had few problems with individual cops. I will continue to give them what I demand for my self. The idea that everyone is innocent and should be treated as such and with respect. When, and if, a cop treats me wrong I will deal with that individual. I know enough not to allow searches etc and will always stand up for my rights. Even that can and must be done in a polite manner. I know a few cops here where I live. They hunt, fish and give of their time for many charities. They have always treated me as a person.

There is a big difference between not trusting and hate.

True, but I am not the one who says people should 'hate' cops. I have no trust for ANY government on the face of this planet. They cannot be trusted, they have proven that. I don't trust their agencies, like police departments. I give individuals the chance to prove they cannot be or can be trusted.

I have even worked for 'big wigs', in government service, that I trust. They are very much far and few between, but they are there.

I realize that. I understand distrust for a group i don't understand hatred for a group on a whole.

With few exceptions, such as Al Queda, labeling and hating an entire group/class/category/etc. is ridiculous and indefensible.

It is a global function of government to become oppressive. Government is in 'business' only for their own power and glory, ALL of them. The extension of government, it's agencies, are often known for assisting government in that oppression. That does not mean, however, that every individual in those agencies are complicit in that oppression. Many are, many are far too low a level to have an effect. Many are not in positions that affect the general population.

Agencies evolve, along with government. As that evolution occurs the 'good people' in government service often leave so as not to be a part of the problem. Government can get so bad that they lock up or even kill those who stand up to those in charge.

The higher the level, the larger the organization, the more likely it is to be controlled by the Federal Government. That is why federal funding of local law enforcement is SO evil. It gives the Federal Government power in an area that is strictly reserved to the States under the Constitution.

Staged. But even if it wasn't, individuals can do good things one minute and then evil the next. Do you imagine that cop ever arrested someone for carrying a gun but not harming anybody? Has he ever used force when it wasn't called for? Of course he has. So is he good or evil? We're all evil, but some make it their profession.

Really? Do you have any clue as to what you are typing? If you are only looking for "evil" that is likely all you will find. Good grief.

I am prepared to believe most cops are good and decent people. While I have never had an unpleasant experience with police many folks have had less than polite encounters with law enforcement officers. My son, at age 16, got whacked by a cop during a routine traffic stop.

My son was a new driver when pulled over on a chilly night in December about 6 or 7 years ago. He was directed to step out of the car and stand about 20 feet away as the cop wanted to look through his vehicle. As the first cop was searching through the car, a second patrol car pulled up as if to give assistance. So far, so good.

As my son was standing there by the road, one of the cops approached him and stuck him hard across the wrist with a heavy metal flashlight, yelling "Get your hands out of your pockets!" The pain was intense. After finding nothing unusual in the car, my son was allowed to go on his way.

Unfortunately, this is how some young people are introduced to law enforcement.

Your arguments are becoming more ridiculous with each post.

Oh, so you personally know that particular cop. How long have you known him? How did you guys meet? Do you see him often? When's the last time you guys hung out together?

I run corrugated. Bales, stacked the whole length of the trailer, usually all the way to the back doors. They frequently fall against the doors and more than one driver has had a bale fall on him when opening the doors. In fact, it just happened recently, causing the company some money in medical bills, and the driver's going to be off work for a while.
So they just issued us straps. You move the door handle out of the way, put the hook through the hole in the latch where the seal goes, then do the same to the other door. Then when you open the doors, they'll only open about 6-8". If a bale is about to fall, this stops out before it can fall on your head. It's a little bit of a PIA, putting this stupid strap on every time you open the doors, but we can see that it's smart, because we've all had bales threaten to come down on us, at least, all of us that have been here for any length of time. It's the nature of hauling these bales.
And so it is with cops. It's the nature of modern police work--and by modern, I mean the last 2-3 decades, depending on where you live--to violate people's rights and use excessive force. It's the nature of the beast now, and any cop who's been on the beat for any length of time has done it. Any cop that won't doesn't stay a cop for very long. Don't believe me? Ask Regina Tosca, the former cop in Bogota, NJ, who got fired after stepping in to stop other cops from using excessive force. Or ask the ex-cop whose name I'm going to edit in here after I look it up, who got fired from the Austin, TX PD after refusing to use a taser on an elderly man who didn't need to be subdued. (edit: Ramon Perez http://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2006-12-29/432110/)
tl;dr I don't need to know the cop in question personally to know he's violated people's rights. That he's been a cop for more than a month makes it a certainty.

Sounds to me that you guys are failing to secure your loads.
Yep. But they're pre-loaded, and we're expressly prohibited from entering the back of our trailers without authorization. They want us to back it in & let the forklift driver fix it, or as a last resort, bring it back to the plant for them to fix. Liability issues, too many injuries, etc.

That's amusing, and 20 years ago, likely right, but that was before they decided they were soldiers and the Bill of Rights was declared dead. Now, it's getting close to impossible to not hate cops and still call yourself a decent person.

Bet you WONT hate them when something goes wrong. ...its okay to be against policies but the cops YOU hate are just following orders...and doing there JOB.. if your up to nothing...whats the problem??.
