Xiggi,

If during those tmes you were stealing, raping vadalizing or endangering your nieghbors through reckless behavior. The police should have charged you, we pay them to keep the barbarians at bay.

But if you were doing one of the millions of things that don't infringe on you nieghbors rights nor endanger them, then the police shouldn't have been bugging you in the first.

Which is the point, they hen peck the hell out of us nice people, while ignoring wild people such as yourself.

Did you know you can go to jail for selling eggs to your nieghbor?

I got a ticket once for not speeding. I also got one once for running a stop sign concealed in a bush. I asked the cop why doesn't he have the city trim back the bush, his reply with a grin was, "because then id have to find another place to write tickets",

BTW, I used to be PRO Police, my dad was a cop for 13 years. But now I do my best to just avoid them, they can't be trusted.

Feds are even worse, at least you can bring political pressure on the locals. The feds act with impunity.

I'm a white dude btw.

Lol never pillaged, harmed or raped not even close.

I don't think you will find any post where i said i am pro or anti police. I just prefer to apply some logic to the subject of bad or good in general, cops, expediters, dispatches or whatever the case may be.

Some cops are very bad some are very good. Most do the job they are assigned to do.

I do have a question that i honestly don't know the answer too. Some people say it is their job to uphold the constitution. Never heard their oath or what they are told is their job. Is it to uphold the constitution or the law which we all know are two different things as wrong as it may be. I am not talking philosophicly what they should do but what they are honestly hired to do.

I don't think it is just some cops with issues. We have some posters with them too.

Just look at AMons Anti-Law Enforcement rants as I do from here on out and No One should have ANY issues with them anymore.

Doesn't Gomer kinda remind you of Amon?? :p

The OP makes no logical sense.

First this: Why decent people hate cops.

Followed by a story from someone who was asked to answer a few questions from police then was thankful that he did not receive a ticket for his broken license plate light.

Not even an interesting story much less anything that could provoke hate.

A decent person would be glad to answer some questions and might even feel silly that he got caught rubber necking and looking suspicious. Just sayin.

Upholding the Bill of Rights should be their first concern, if not their job, but it's neither. Nor is enforcing the law or public safety. A cop is primarily the executor of the will of the municipality, and whether they, on the whole, systemically, are relatively good or evil largely depends on the municipality. If Boss Hogg runs the place, they're going to be like Roscoe--muscle to do evil.

I'll pass along your views to my wife, who retired from the police department after 28 years, with several public service awards for both life saving, and apprehension of bank robbers.

I'm sure she will agree she was an idiot, with a desire to use mace and shoot people .....

There is always two sides to a story ...... you saw one.

I might add .... she also had 30 years with the fire department as a voluenteer paramedic, where she treated the very people she had encountered in her LEO duties.

Nothing like changing hats twice a day.

When cops stay within the limitations of the law and do good things, I'm their biggest backers. Can your wife say she never used unnecessary force or turned a blind eye to it? The answer, of course, is no.
I saw a mafia hit man help a little old lady across the street once. Two sides to every story, right?

That's half the point. Why can cops exceed their authority, ignore the Bill of Rights, abuse citizens and get nothing for it except a commendation? Because we put up with it, and part of "we" is the servile citizens who cheer on rogue cops and thank them for what they do.
Modern law enforcement needs about 6 cups of Andy Taylor added to the mix and shaken vigorously.

Ask your wife if she ever arrested someone for possesing weapon?

The answer is yes. Therefor she violated the constitution, furthermore she tell you she felt it was the right thing to do.

My point BTW is not whether you think the 2nd ammendment is a good idea or not, but untill its repealed, police if they are to be decent people need to abide by it. It is the highest law in the land.

Anyway,
I know principled arguments are lost on todays Americans. Especially on government employees.

Of course you did not answer my question you went with your feelings. Very liberal of you who would have known.

Not everyone can or should be allowed to posess a weapon. So your assumption is false.

Ziggi,

Incorrect, I'm not offering an opinion on whether the 2nd ammendment makes sense or not, only on what it sais.
And how it is conviently ignored.

So as I said before principled arguments are largely lost on Americans.

You have no idea what kind of life i have lived in the past. No where close to sheltered. I have had cops let me go when they had every right to haul me to jail. To even attempt to dump all cops into one mold is on its face ludicrous.

No you are assuming that your view is correct over those of the courts. They have found that in some cases it is constitutional to suspend gun ownership rights from certain people. Sorry but we are stuck with their decisions if we agree with them or not which means it is not violating some peoples rights to be arrested for gun possession.

What happens when the courts trample on our Rights under the Constitution? Or the President or congress? Do we accept that?

When is it that the government oversteps it's bounds under the Constitution? Can it? Where does the political power reside in the United States? I don't believe that it is in the courts.
