What it's like at Panther

No that isn't accurate now. That was the case when they first started the program. They run at a flat rate now regardless of the run. That got corrected when I had a reefer truck in Elite.
I stayed with dry vans because the revenue was similar to what the reefer was. But, I also work a little outside of the generic system. The reefer truck was too restrictive in a lot of the freight I was doing. Our dry van revenue is similar to what was posted by a WG member earlier. I don't believe it is necessary to elaborate beyond that.

Leo Dave is right, that is what we get for our refer. $1.65 a load mile for any load plus 100% of the FSC and .50 a mile deadhead. Erwin told us in Elite Class if the run is over 250 miles DH they will bump it up to .75 a mile deadhead for all miles. So over all I think it a better deal then what we had at FedEx. But that is what I think but it really don't matter what I think. It's up to the O/O to see if it works for them.

When I last discussed it they were offering reduced rate loads to keep the reefer trucks moving more. If they've increased the number of loads so they can pay full rate on all loads that's great. I have no reefer units and no plans for any, although I know they are a good niche to be in. Based on the WG/Elite comparisons I've seen it's a coin flip loaded and the best of 7 tie breaker goes to being paid all miles before, during and after the load rather than a lot of unpaid miles. My data sample is too small to definitively name one carrier ahead of another. It can only give results based on the sample units only.

The only real issue Dave mentioned for Phil was the fact that he is a "C" unit. Panther doesn't have that same restriction of 5,000 lbs. so it is a matter of whether he could be provided more opportunities. Who knows?

I know. As stated above, we drove D trucks for three years and now a C truck. The results are stated above.

That was already understood. He was refering to a carrier outside of Fedex without that restriction.

It would certainly be a mistake to jump in there and not expect some hair-pulling moments.

Here is the load my brother is on today. 1703 miles with .51 a mile FSC, now that is the longest load as of yet. He has yet to turn down a load either. Nice load too.

What was his d/h to the p/u and where does it terminate? That's a good load and $1.71 a mile is good pay and with that many miles the d/h on both ends won't dilute it too badly, hopefully at least.

Bruno, you are a work of art.You change companies, and within a couple of weeks you have become a recruiter. What are you trying to do,get enough people to sign on with the CATs to get some of your start up fee back. Not anyone can sign up with any company and know that much that soon,so just because things are going well,in a very busy time of year, you can brag all you want.Come Jan and Feb,tell us how happy you changed companies then.I haven't signed on to EO in months,I'm glad I did today,it's givin me a real laugh

How do you know that it's only been a month. Like I said we have been checking into moving our trucks over to Panther for over a year. Doesn't mean that some of the other owners trucks I manage hasn't been at Panther. I don't post everything. But I'm Glad you got a laugh.

Hey what a great Idea, maybe I can become a recruiter for them.
At least I would tell the truth about how it is on the road. Unlike some other carriers.

What Party, Fedex can't afford a party. That's why Memphis came up with the FSC program so they could help pay the rent on that big building in Green.

Ok....I would say that if someone had the "Greatest show on earth", everyone would be there.
Probably a good time for a deep breath.

This business is very strange. One guy goes to Panther and another goes to Fedex. The guy that went to Panther does really well while the guy at Fedex does not. Then for whatver reason, they both decide to jump on over to Bolt. Now the guy who was formerly with Panther is not doing as good as he used to do at Panther, but the guy who jumped over from Fedex is making money hand over fist. Call it dumb luck, call it being in the right place at the right time, call it dispatch favoritism. Whatever it is, we will never really know for certain. Some people seem to have better luck in this business than others and if you try and psychoanalyze this fact, you will end up in a psych ward. All we can really do if offer 100% of what we have to the companies that we are leased on with and hope for the best.

No offense, Bruno, but it looks like you're trying to justify the move to Panther in your own mind, by wanting to hear others' responses to your business decision. If that's the case, let it go and rake in the money. I've found long ago that you can't satisfy the thirst for acceptance (of either yourself, or in others accepting you) by touting your achievements... especially when you haven't achieved them yet. Just be confident in what you did, and don't focus on the opinions of others, unless you trust those opinions.

None taken Hawk. Just Trying to pass on some info. It's really not about me. Sorry if It came across that way. It's about what has been said about Panther over the years that even people like me thought was the truth about them.

After all this discussion, it still comes down to finding a company that fits YOU, your equipment, your business plan, your goals etc. If Panther is working out for you that's great, it may not work out for someone else.
