US confirms ambassador killed in Libya

Considering there haven't been any "anniversary" attacks in the past, there was no reason to expect any on this particular occasion. Having said that, any embassy in an Islamic country, or the country of a non-ally or certainly an enemy, should be armed to the teeth 24/7. The US embassy in places like Canada and the Bahamas and Brazil have more security than some do in these Muslim countries.
He could have learned the same thing just watching the news.

There were no "successful" anniversary attacks; however, this does not mean that there were no attacks planned or threatened.
We the people are not privy to information regarding the threats of terrorist activity but we are told in general terms that U.S. security is on higher alert leading up to each anniversary for obvious reasons.
There will always be a reason to expect and prepare for attacks on Sept. 11 with increased security around the globe. Especially Canada!
There had been warnings regarding possible attacks, and in spite of that "The night of the Benghazi attack, four lightly armed Libyans and five American security offices were on duty".
One has to wonder if Ambassador Stevens had been requesting more security and/or protection from the U.S. Marines only to have his requests ignored by the Obama/Clinton state dept.

No, it will be swept under the table, just as the mess in Iran was. There is NO need for diplomats to have been killed. They are not soldiers. They were abandoned. Obama is as useless, even MORE useless, than Carter was. Not that he gives a flip who is killed or why, he never put HIS slimy neck on the line.

I very much doubt that is how it happened.
It is the president would would make the call to remove those types of people from an embassy. The President would have been briefed on the declining situation. It is the presidents call to pull people out or to make MAJOR improvements on security. It WAS THIS president who instructed the Marine Guard, through the State Dept, to no allow them to carry ammunition when on duty. My nephew got those 'no ammo' order when working at the embassy in Romania.
Just as it was Carter who did NOT pull our people out when he KNEW that embassy was going to be attacked within a 3 day time frame.
At the briefing I thought it go something like...
Obama: Hillary, how is our security at the embassies?
Hillary: Fine, Mr President...
