Thanks you Mr. Sprinter for wishing us REAL drivers many years of fresh golden eggs laying.
if you opted out not to walk the walk, just keep your fine solutions to yourself.
frankly, after washing out all the wrong solutions given by drivers that are not forced to comply, we actually have a vague idea of what needs to be done.
check it out.

I think Mr. Moose isn't to happy with my comment, LOL

I would only interpret adverse conditions to include traffic accidents, road impediments by labour strife, terrorism, criminal investigations, and weather related road closures or other acts of god as they are unpredictable. Anything that is predictable or is possible to have forewarned knowledge of such as rush hour traffic, announced construction delays, even coming storms while considered acts of god, if they have been announced, they are generally considered plan able to avoid and I think you would have a hard time beating a ticket given for it. Even an undue delay at a shipper or consignee that would have otherwise allowed you to beat rush hour I doubt you could get away with because even if it is legit, it would be a huge loophole that everyone would be using all the time to extend their driving time so legit or not, it can't be an allowable excuse.

also any adverse condition that allows you to extend your driving time must be given back immediately the next day so it cannot extend your 70 hour week.

I don't believe that is correct. I can be on duty, never drive, and STILL have to take that half hour break. I have set, on duty, for 3 hours and only have 5 hours left showing on my "break clock".

No, that's not right. You can't drive after your 8th hour on duty. It's like the 14 & 70 hour rules; you can work until you drop dead, as long as you don't drive without the statutory break.

WWATD? What would Andy Taylor do?

I'm glad I no longer live by a logbook. Every time they make a change they make it more stupid and more onerous and less safe than it was previously. god I hate government and bureaucracies and really do wish Wanda Sykes on the majority of them all.

The 14 hour rule only says you can't drive after 14 hours but you can keep loading or unloading for 2 days straight, you just need a 10 hour break before driving again. The 30 minute break is the same way, you can load or unload a truck for 10 hours with no break required.

IF I was on duty for 8 hours I would be required to take the 30 minute break prior to driving. I would have NO time showing on the "8 hour" line on the Clink. The ONLY way to reset that line is to go off duty for 30 minutes and log it as a break.

We can pull into a pu at 7.5 hrs. If we are there 2 hrs we can load. That puts us at 9.5 w/o a break.
We must then take a break PRIOR to driving.
No driving after 8 hrs w/o first taking a break.
