It’s not a felony to “want” to purchase a gun.

True.

However, it is a crime to receive a gun while under felony indictment:

(n) It shall be unlawful for any person who is under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year to ship or transport in interstate or foreign commerce any firearm or ammunition or receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

18 U.S. Code § 922 - Unlawful acts | U.S. Code | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute

The Orange Doofus even allowed a picture of himself holding a gun - one which was shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce - for evidence of having received said item.

Lock. Him. Up.

More Lunacy

Sounds like a political stunt. Trump was ill-advised to bring it up, but not because of his indictments. He was not eligible to buy a handgun in SC because he's not a resident of that state. It's against federal law for FFL dealers to sell handguns to out of state residents.

That said, the question of being under indictment for a felony is a bit murky. The following comes from the above article;

"A Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas ruled last year that it’s unconstitutional to block people under felony indictment from buying guns."

However, the indictment question is still on the background check and most dealers won't sell guns to anyone under a felony indictment even though they haven't been found guilty of a crime.

Judge Rules Trump Defrauded Banks, Insurers

This is a major development in the lawsuit NY AG Latisha James is bringing against Trump and the Trump Organization, and it's a major win for her.
This news just broke. More to follow.

Short story: Trump committed fraud. He has lied repeatedly about his business performance. He is not the successful businessman he claims to be. He fought mightily to keep his financials secret. As the truth becomes known, we understand why.

Additional Details as they Come In
  • The judge ordered sanctions of $7,500 for each attorney who represented the Trump defendants for making frivolous and previously rejected arguments in court filings.
  • Judge Engoron ordered that some of Trump’s business licenses be rescinded as punishment—making it nearly or completely impossible for the Trump Organization to continue to do business in New York State.

And yet The MAGA Rubes™ will continue to lap up any pronouncement that comes from El Donaldo's mouth as though it were The Gospel Truth, issued from on high ...

Nothing says more clown than being for the big banks.
Regarding "no trial," and "no jury, that is EXACTLY what Trump asked for. He and AG James both made requests for summary judgements, which means no trial and no jury. They asked the judge to decide the case. The judge issued a partial summary judgement today. There are six remaining issues that will go to trial. That trial begins in October.

Per Court Order, Trump's New York Businesses to be Dissolved

Here's the link to today's court ruling.

It seems that, per the ruling, the business certificates for all of Trump's New York businesses are canceled. The parties are directed to, within 10 days, recommend the names of no more than three independent receivers to manage the dissolution of the canceled LLCs. That would include the Trump Organization. I don't know if it would include Trump Tower too. That would depend on how Trump has that business asset registered. We'll learn more as the experts and commentators have time to go through the ruling and research Trump's NY-registered LLCs.

Because of the perpetual fraud Trump committed over he years, he is no longer allowed to do business in New York, and his New York businesses will be dissolved by independent receivers. The accountability train continues to roll, and, in this case, Trump ran out of time. He delayed and delayed and delayed as much as he could. But the train arrived today.

Will he appeal? Of course he will. That's what Trump does. Will he lose? Yes he will. That's also what Trump does when he brings cases to court. At present, his post-2020 election loss rate is 95.13% (details).

Yeah ... that ruling by the judge in Texas - based on a whackadoodle ruling that Uncle Clarence got his "conservative" cohorts to sign on to - is currently on appeal @ the Fifth Circuit.

It may wind up @ SCOTUS again before it's all said and done.

Would give Clarence another chance to flex ... assuming his corrupt butt hasn't resigned in disgrace in the meantime.

Well lookie here. Biden is already 5 to 10 points behind in the polls against Trump. And now this. Who will be Trump's opponent when Biden is impeached or forced by his party to drop out?
