A person who offer argument defending a controversial person is an apologist. What personal about that?

We rate Fiorina’s statement Mostly True.

Says Donald Trump was "forced to file for bankruptcy not once, not twice, four times."
In a debate. – Wednesday, September 16, 2015

While it is accurate that Trump filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy four times, Fiorina’s statement doesn’t tell the whole story. In context, Fiorina’s phrasing suggests Trump was personally responsible for the failures of these businesses, but in reality, much was out of Trump’s control -- such as a struggling casino industry. But Trump is certainly not blameless.

Actually he seems to be fairly middle of the road. Pointing out things about both candidates that is pretty much common perception.

Maybe we need a new term memeist? It seems like more of those are posted around the Web with little regard to truth these days than anything else.

Not necessarily. And in point of fact, I haven't once defended Trump in this thread. I've defended against blatant ignorance, mischaracterizatons, fabricated quotes, and beliefs presented as fact. I've defended some of the things Trump had said in the context of the issue at hand. But I haven't defended Trump at all. The fact that I haven't espoused vitriol and hatred towards the man is hardly the same as defending him.

What personal about that?
Instead of defending Hillary as asked, you responded by attacking me personally. Using "you're" can only be interpretated as being directed squarely at me, when I'm not even the topic of the thread. Why would you do that?

If you think going off-topic to attack someone is perfectly fine, you should probably get Windsor's thoughts on that issue.

His shirts are made in Bangladesh. Regardless, where do you think they should be made? Before you knee-jerk with "Here in America!" you first need to find an existing US supplier who can manufacture the shirts to spec and in quantity, and at a price point that is financially viable. That's easier said than done.

If Ford wants a new part for a vehicle they don't just build a new manufacturing facility to build that part. They look for an existing supplier who can supply the part. If no US suppliers can do it, then the part gets made elsewhere. Shirts are exactly the same.

I know why Trump and other companies manufacture things overseas.....I get it! But when you do, it doesn't ring well with people when you say you care about American workers and your going to bring jobs back to this country. Even if he actually means it. But what do we know? Like he said, no one knows the system better than him....and only he can fix it.....

As a real estate developer and property owner he really isn't in the position of bringing back manufacturing jobs to this country or in negotiating traded deals that incentivize keeping those jobs here. As someone who licenses his name to retail products like shirts and ties, he can only work with the system in place. As president, on the other hand, he can effect real change.

Hillary, on the other hand, says she cares about the American worker, but was part and parcel to the policies and trade agreements that caused jobs to be shipped overseas, and she's running as Obama 2.0 to keep those same policies in effect, except she's going to redouble her efforts.

So while neither rings well, at least Trump rings true, and believable.

I could type out all the crazy crap he has said in the past year but I don't have four hours to spare. At this point I'm less concerned about what his comments mean, I don't even think he knows what he's saying half the time. And I'm not really concerned what "they" say he means. I'm more concerned as to why he can't stop himself from saying the stuff in the first place. He definitely does a lot of talking before thinking.
Why are you and so many other people concerned about what Trump says but don't care in the least about what Clinton has done and failed to do?

If nothing else about Trump, he actually used his own money through the primary, and I think he scares the daylights out of both parties if he gets in. I think the latter has been long overdue.

If I vote for Trump in November this would be the main factor in my decision. Especially considering the GOP Stalwarts are against him.

Personally even though trump isn't anything to get excited about I'm very pleased we have someone who isn't a politician. They aren't going to change without being shown we are tired of their crap.

The fact that the Washington Establishment, the Republicans in particular, don't want Trump to be president, is perhaps the most compelling argument that he should be the next president. The Establishment wants someone who will play ball, be it Rubio, Bush, or even Clinton. Look at how many established Republicans are saying they prefer Clinton over Trump. There's a reason for that, and it's not because Trump is dangerous, or crazy, or unqualified... or they all suddenly shifted their views to the left. It's because he can't be bought and he won't take his marching orders from those who want to rule by proxy. Clinton has already proved she can be bought and is literally campaigning on doubling down on the status quo, she is part and parcel of the Establishment.
