The Trump Card...

Since the DOJ filing was made late last night, I have not yet read it or listened to the news reports and commentator analysis about it. Also, Trump's response is due today (Wednesday) and a hearing on this matter is scheduled for Tursday. I think I'll wait until Friday or the weekend to review all of this. It will take that long for this part of the Mar-a-Lago search story to more fully develop.

I do note the alternative facts/denial arguments being quickly made in this forum. It wasn't really a classified document, it was a secret my-pillow discount. It wasn't really obstruction of justice, because the crimes were non-crimes.

This is like saying I'm not really wet from the rain because it's non-rain.

The problem with alternative-facts arguments like these is objective truth exists. The truth is this is a real investigation, being conducted by a real DOJ, naming real crimes, conducting real searches in which real people are going into the real Mar-a-Lago, gathering real evidence and developing a real case.

You can deny this reality all you want, just like you can deny the rain. But it's still raining and people are still getting wet.
But what if they did all of this to simply keep trump from running for president again.....what if they lied to a judge just to do Russian collusion hoax 2.0?

Staged photo and then released for the world can see.
But they think that’s ok.

If the DOJ lied to the judge, Trump would raise that issue in court, would he not?

Again, a fair amount will develop with today's filing by Trump and tomorrow's hearing. The point you raise may very well be raised. We'll know fairly soon.

Also of interest is the addition of a highly regarded lawyer to the Trump team. Trump's most recent filing was laughable in many expert eyes and even the judge had to ask for clarification. Now that this new attorney is on the job, no one can say Trump is not competently represented.

That's kinda important. His other attorney's submitted a laughable document. Yet another one seems to have lied under oath when reporting that all materials have been turned over. It's a good thing for Trump to be competently represented.

For those that are keeping track, the DOJ is opposing an independent review of their taint team work. Taint team tainted?

The problem is what if trump was told that the presidential archive people thought they had it all....paperwork could have been mixed in with other stuff in the move to mar largo.....heck it even took 30 agents 9 hours to go through 3 rooms.

All in good time. It’s coming.
I'm not so sure. Trump has had opportunities to raise certain points in court but he has not. This failure to do so quickly is not helping him. It hurts him. If you think the warrant is invalid or overbroad, the longer you wait to challenge that, the less effect your argument becomes. Trump waited two weeks before asking for a special master only to learn now that DOJ has already reviewed everything seized. If he was truly concerned about the DOJ not reviewing certain documents, why wait two weeks before even saying anything about it? How does waiting benefit Trump?

He just hired a lawyer(Kise) right?
Just heard the other lawyer yesterday say they will be challenging the unlawful search and seizure based on the 4th Amendment to the constitution. After this other special master ruling.

What if this?
What if that?

The investigation is not "about what if?" It's about "who did what and when?" You can try to change the subject or diminish the grand jury, the investigators and law enforcement all you want with "what if" questions. It does not matter. "What is" trumps "what if?"

I would expect that and encourage that, if not in this court, which may not have jurisdiction, in the next court where Trump will square off against DOJ attorneys there.

If Trump is indicted, the DOJ's case will have to be strong and well argued. If Trump does not have the best people representing him on this, if the DOJ's case is not strongly and thoroughly challenged, Trump will cry forever that he was wrongfully convicted for that reason.

On the other hand, he'll cry forever anyway; with our without reason. He's very good at that.

But for the sake of history, it is crucial that every point the prosecution makes be thoroughly and competently responded to by Trump's attorney's in court.
