Suggestion Box Thread

Good morn all!
It has been awhile but i have something worth posting.
This weekend i received a load from dispatch over the qc w/o a call first. This is not a problem as i happened to be in the truck at the time. I wonder what would have happened if i were in a movie theater or some other venue that prevented me from seeing the qc?
This load had skads of time to p/u which also, akes me wonder if that would have prevented a follow up call before a few hours went by? This type of thing could happen when a driver is at home.

The problem with this scenario is that we are a no forced dispatch system, what if you didn't want the load for what ever reason ? Then throw in a tight pick up window , driver not in truck to inform dispatch you do not want the run ( again not getting into the particulars of a run ) then dispatch is in a predicament to find another way to cover the load with out ample time to do so.

I still think the best policy ( just my opinion ) is to get a phone call. It will prevent many problems from arising.

Evidently, I have overcomplicated the simple. Allow my to try again.
When we put in a macro to go out of service, we are presented with a list of numbers to choose from each one denoting the reason for going out of service.
I suggest that an option gets put in the going into service macro, that one being an in service but out of truck option.
This allows dispatch to see that you are available but account for time to get to the truck and p/u a load w/o being late.
Not everyone goes sportin around town in thier st/box/sprinter when at home after all.
So, what i am saying, as clearly as i can, is the macro is meant for when you go home but do not want to go out of service yet still want to go places when you are home.

I think it would probably not get used very well or properly in my opinion. We are investigating the option of having a text or email go to the driver whenever a qcomm message is sent to the truck. Even if it is just a notification versus the content.

I sure hope I didn't spark anything with my earlier reply? If I did , it sure was not intended. I offered my view on it from the way I interpreted the original post.

Not at all. i errored and assumed that a suggestion in a suggestion box thread was simply that. I sometimes forget i am on an open forum in this instance as i was reminded by a friend. Hence if i appeared hostile, my apologies to all concerned.

I personally wouldn't be for that as being an invader I'm charged ridiculous text and data fees when in the US. I just don't see it as an issue so long as we are dispatched through the phone (which I prefer). YMMV.
