YES!!! Mondays have sucked for quite a while. No doubt. But we are the type of carrier to NOT take that as "okay" and we dig all day every day, trying as hard as we can to make our drivers as much as they want. It's difficult. Really. But that is our lot in life. We love it and think that our guys know we are always trying. We have a slight advantage due to our "margin requirement". That helps.

That's the great part about being with a small company, their income is tied to your wheels moving. Some of the bigger carriers don't care because they just make money off of people being signed on through their surcharges.

Absolutely correct, Paul. As our guys know, they are on the CE team! No big company picnics or truck washes yet. But we try to make sure they know they ARE as much Crossroads Express as we are. I think they do, as we all communicate well daily and more. Whether or not freight is flying. We all chat, in one form or another. That's a good thing!!!

No disrespect guys.
On a good week my carrier gets $4000 or more from the freight I haul.

I don't think they say, it doesn't matter truck xxx didn't do crap last week. We got $62.50 from him.

I think we made $4K off Drifter last week. He ran hard. But that's HIS business.
Last week was good. This week? Who knows? We don't look at each week as much as each rodeo. Actually, I look at both. But at the end of the day we care ONLY about our guy's happiness. If they aren't happy, we are doomed!! And we KNOW it.

Right but if you wanted more money because the rates were to low so other trucks ran those loads giving the carrier the same money do you think they care? Or if you get stuck sitting for another reason do they care? They have plenty of trucks to run those loads or just broker them out for easy money. They will take your $62.50 with a smile and couldn't care less what you do.

And yes. We have profited as little as $62.50 off a load with our drivers. And less, even. Off one load. Not one week. But they generally run several loads a week and we make (profit) between that measly $62.50 up to about $140.
By the way, why do you care what Sally & I make per load off our driver's hard work. It's 15-20%. Is that a problem?
Isn't this blog about DRIVERS being happy????
Aren't we all here to share driver needs, issues, benefits, trucks, pains, etc??
We have low overhead. So?

But wait. If you're saying $4K profit? No. We don't NEED to make $4K profit off each truck each week.
That's the beauty of this. We're low overhead.

Zorry I thought you worked for the FedCC?

If not then.....
So you are on % pay?....at 70% to you that would translate into a $12,000 Gross week every week....

At the TA in Seymour, broken. Blew a rear wheel seal last night. The spindle is toast. Had to have FDCC take us off of two loads we were on for today. Been here since about midnight, NO telling how long we will be here. :(

Will be here all day. Just talked to the shop people, the guy who is doing the spindle will be here around 0930. Then he has to do the work and they say it takes about 4 hours to cool enough to be able to do the rest of the work.

Ouch, that's expensive.

I did front brakes and bearings last week. I didn't need to but after 300,000 miles why not. As you can see the pads had life left in them, the race is another thing. The bearings still looked new. I have spares now.
