Papa Johns Pizza cutting hours

Foxnews.com The CEO of Papa Johns warns company may cut employee hours due to costs of Obama Care. He says Obama care will cost the company $5million to $8million more a year. Also the AppleBees chain is under attack and faces threats of boycott after a franchise owner in New York stated that with Obama care there may no longer be any expansion or hiring.

SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE! Marxist/Socialist policies hurt those they are "intended" to help. (they are not REALLY intended to help but that is the scam they pull to get elected, then they pull the old switcharoo and stick it in the People's ear)

Some Obama friendly businesses will dodge the bullet for a while through the exemption program. I still think you will see many businesses just go to part-timers or close unless they open the door back up to those "temporary" exemptions. People can't say they weren't warned. I believe Darden which own Red Lobster, Olive Garden and a few other chains is also following suit.

Got lots of former relatives who work in the medical field. Lots of doctors will be changing the way they do business and lots of hospital rules on patient care coming down the pike with less time for you to recover in the hospital too,,, oh, and those medical benefits for employees, yep your medical people will be losing benefits too, just 32 hrs a week and you're a goner on Bennies. It will be here soon. ooooooh, my. we will have lots to talk about in the next 4 years.

Without a doubt. We are heavily involved in a clinic here in TN. Family business. The decision has already been made to no longer accept any new medicaid patients unless it is cash up front. Just one of many changes. With a whole lot more coming.

Sure Dave,
The CEO John Schnatter who lives in one of the biggest mansions in America (in KY) will probably shut down the business that has made him wealthy.
After all, setting his employees and their families up on a decent health care plan may force him to sell one of his vacation homes. The sky is falling!!

This simple gives wealthy business owners an excuse to go with part timers to increase profits which is what many have been doing for the past decade. Just now they have a scapegoat.

May or may not be true. I doubt it in many cases because many businesses just aren't that big.
With that said, the reality is in the cases where it is true, the fallout remains the same for the people working there. There's your reality.
Better wake up. Whether you watch Fox News or not won't change that outcome. Actually, the reality of the predicted outcome has already started.

You really think single restaurants in a chain can easily handle an 80 to 100,000 dollar hit. Those restaurants don't profit hundreds of thousand dollars profit appear. What a ceo makes isn't because of single restaurants. Profit margins on big chains are not that huge and big expenses can make a big difference.

Mcdonalds for instance averages 8 - 10 percent profit per franchise.

I am well awake thank you.
Mrs. Humble has been involved in retail management for 25 years and has seen the gradual move of companies looking to increase profits by cutting labor and benefit costs since the 90s.
She has had to replace many full timers with part timers and watched as health plans have been degraded to save costs.
This has been taking place quietly but consistantly and was only limited by companies needs to remain competitive and maintain a good reputation. This is only news to those that live in Fox world vs the real world.
Now, CEOs think they have a mandate to step up their costs savings and continue to provide sub par coverage under the guise of blaming the evil Obamacare.
Yes. In the end it effects the workers and CEOs will continue to buy mansions, yachts and vacation homes as they feel they deserve.

I'm not a huge fan of Obama's health care plan bc the government can never do anything efficiently but really Papa Johns has crap coverage, most retail food places do...goddess forbid they have to step up and provide decent coverage! I don't want the government in my healthcare but something has to be done! Corporations make huge profits yet somehow they can't offer decent healthcare...something smells fishy!

Don't like what you are doing? QUIT! I did when I seen what retail was doing. They could not survive on the margins they were working on and costs had to be cut. Simple economics.

Why is it any of your business what he does with HIS money? Maybe he has decided his time is worth a certain amount and when he is extorted for several million more it is no longer worth it to him. Just another liberal trying to force their views on everyone else.

The local franchise owner for the Waffle Houses in this area is also considering bailing. The mandated health expense and her personal income tax may do it.

Lonestar just closed all their Dayton area stores, not sure why, there has been no follow up story. On Friday they were locked up, *poof* all gone.

Play the class envy card all you wish, these upcoming changes in 2013 will impact all of us.

Try this for an interesting read ...
