Panther business down (up to 40%) past week

Anyone else notice Panther is way off the mark for the past 10 days??
I have heard from inside sources that load count has dropped by almost 40% compared to just 30 days ago. Probably just an adjustmant in the business world, but the typical May slowdown has arrived early and with a vengeance.

Not sure where you are getting your numbers from....my drivers cannot even get a break between loads because we are so busy. I would have to say business has never looked brighter than it does atm...6 TEAMS loaded miles since 16th thru today
3875
5705
5285
5364
3025
5889

I have seen much slower.......load count is up also by about 13% over last year.

Sorry, should have been a bit more precise. Straight trucks and Tractors with teams almost always buck the trend. I was speaking on Van Freight. They are also trying to keep the vans propped up by putting heavier loads that the staright jobs would carry onto the vans (2000 - 2500lbs)
Not a knock just asking if anyone else is feeling the late spring pinch. We have a little group of about 20 drivers and most have noticed a pretty good drop in the past 10 days or so.

Robsdad, Don't get disgruntled. The people with the inside sources are usually a source from inside the truckstop, that has been turning down all loads under 600 miles. And is out of service a lot because they play arcades and go to girlie shows. Nothing wrong with that but it is hard to work and have a meaningful said social life.

I am real busy as a solo and that means team miles are up.

No... I run 2k - 2.5k per week as a solo and just had a bit of time to share some news. I keep forgetting that there are a few #####***les like you that never figured out how to communicate properly. As far as my info goes, this is not anything confidential and I was wondering if anyone else is feeling the late spring pinch. Most of the expediting companies that I deal with day to day are a bit slower too, but not to the degree of P.E.S.

ds1450,
You need to be more precise if you want to communicate properly.

In my prior post I stated usually the information given isn't reliable, however if the shoe fits.......

I don't follow the vans that close but so far, April has been a very good month for our straights.

Please be more precise on the exact location of the girlie bars. I enjoy visiting with other expediters and if I can kill two birds with one stone.........why not;)

Good to hear. I do tend to think the vans business varies alittle more than straights or tractors. But, if you are prepared you will do ok.

I parked my straight because Ive talked with people who had recieved info feight was projected to go down this year and it has not disapointed that projection. I am now in the process revamping my skills to get the money (my liscence to an A class)..
I take no pleasure in bashing any company Panther was very descent to us. but the loads were averge to below average)my indide source..and its a good one.says P11 is definatly down and anyone that is boasting record runs for the year may be lucky, may be liers, but definatly should be asked about to P11 dispatch as to why everyone else is slow. And few are having record years.
I have no agenda Imnot in the game for now..Im evolving (to a monkey ..Im moving up)I will call them like I see them. I will come back out again As an owner OP in a big rig/ stonger faster, wiser.
If it looks like a duck quacks like a duck..its probably a parrakeet.
Study the industry your in, read the signs go with your gut.. and go take care of your business. Be ready to move ..change update you skills.

VEry interesting. Me thinks Panther puts on as many trucks as they can to fill up boards. All the ones bragging about how great it is are those who have trucks with teams, and you are probably being taken care of. That would be nothing new, esp. at P2.
Besides, if you take Canada, you wait to get out. Just look at all the no-name new Canadian expedites anymore. If you don't you get $.05c less. If you deadhead out, you probably get sent back in. What a scenario.
I think there was an uptick in auto freight lately, but competition is fierce for that cheaper freight. Since no one seems to talk about what kind of freight is slow, I have to assume it is auto freight.

JoeBob,

Why do you think PII should be questioned on why some driver's are slower than other's?

We had a great 1st quarter and we contribute that to luck - being in the right place at the right time - nothing else, no lies, no favoritism!

We did notice it slowed down in April, before we came home, but we are hoping things will pick up when we go back into service on the 30th.

Good luck on your new adventure!!

JOEBOB Be cognizant of your suroundings, always. Most think they are employees, and someone owes them somthing. You are doing good.

SIMON Look on the door, i'm sure there is a name on it. No name eh?

Why is it that when someone posts something positive about a company ( not just Panther---I see ATeam get it with Fed ex also) are they accused of lying or being "favorites"? My experience may not be your experience....but I will give you hard numbers and not just "feelings" or hearsay. If you have ever sat in dispatch you would see there is no way that favorites could EVER be played...not to mention that most dispatchers do not stay around long enough to form any kind of "favorite" relationship.

Teams vs solos----why wouldn't a team get a load offer before a solo person...this is JIT freight and that makes PERFECT sense to me. That is why we only hire teams.....we know that expedited freight is a b**** for solo's...not because of PII or FEDEX...but because of the HOS changes.

Biting the hand that feeds you----why would myself or ATeam or any other owner EVER come to a public forum to air private grievances?
Not out of fear of reprisals....but out of good management skills...praise in public and correct in private. When you own your own business you are the manager and you make the business relationships.

Can anyone on this forum fix any of the perceived problems you see with Panther? It just puzzles me...things that make me go "hmmmm"

I don't think it is bragging if just the facts and or numbers are put out there. I don't see any posts that are of a gloating nature. We are doing well with numbers simular to Charlotte's post. But, I am very careful not to paint a picture of roses and puffery.
For people making huge investments to enter the expediting, they deserve nothing less than spot on realistic and accurate information.
There's my penny in the pond.
