Scott;

As an old Con-Way, in-house employee and contractor, maybe this is not the soap box forum you should be voicing you opinion. A little self restraint would be appreciated.

I was at Con-Way for a reason, and do not appreciated someone kicking us when we are down. Don't get me wrong, you have as much right to answer the posts as all of us, but you kind of represent the company and are really doing a poor job of it.

As another of our contributors would say, "just my 2 cents" which is about all it is worth. Thanks for doing what you do, anyway, tough situation.

By the way Scott, I really do feel for you guys, you had to take over a rough situation.

we've been put out of service 4 times in 21 mo with panther every time for refusing a load for under our rate or dis don't understand what out of truck on pager meens or when we gave a phone no to a motel room
but ive looked close at outher expideters to move to them but at panther if you keep pluging on it gets better they got thier goof ups main one is their shotgun dispatch never dealing with the same person
but they are attempting to fix it
at their speed it will be never
but still a better deal than most out there

You see this is where you got it wrong the last time you had/have me confused with someone else first time I left every one liked me and was known as the rescue guy left quite by accident some one termed my truck accidentally then went on vacation by the time it got up the ladder to Rick Buffington what had happened and reinstated my truck I was leased on at con-way and found out how a owner is suppose to be treated.
Then a year ago last July Dan Sokolowski him self sat me down and had a little chat on why I should give panther another try.
So I did returned as a team and right off the bat started getting badmouthed and badgered by you on qc and phone. When I asked some one what the deal was they told me you had me mixed up with another driver that left and returned but refused to listen. Too much fun trying to be a bully by the way some of the people that worked under you apologized to me my first week back this time for what you made them do last time.
I don’t like bullies never did don’t care how big or tuff they think they are in side they are scared little boys.

There is another Scott but he’s a good guy but just a dispatcher oh by the way that Scott likes me :p

Yes some dispatchers will put you out of service for refusing a load. Happened to me before and just last week just down for break had 6 hrs drive time and about 7 on my 14 refused a load picking up right at 7 hrs out ok let me think can I make that pu and drive 150 miles direct? NO so the person put me out of service and not out of service sleeping but out of service.

Oh believe it or not the dispatchers don’t think we park next to each other and talk.

Hey Mike how’s it going?

He maybe a rep for panther Mike but that’s how he acts even when on the job he gets a kick out of giving drivers a hard time especially when its slow.
So he likes kicking people when they are down it’s the bully thing he never grew out of it I guess. Course I’m still a 12 year old at heart my self guess that’s why he and I knock heads all the time!

If I may say I think alot of post here in this thread has been posted without alot of thinking,What I mean Is that Scott Is giving out company Information that I think should have been done by PM.And the drivers and O/O's stating things that has happen to them that should of been worked out by Panther II and not here.I think from the start the poster wanted to know whos from conway and still planning on staying with Panther II but It went a rye somewhere,An not going to where It has now....

Yupp your right its got out of hand and not going to point where because I’m as much at fault as any one, little boys never grow up just get bigger toys :)

But kind of see the dilemma for the con-way refugees and what they are putting up with. Ray Frame is a great guy panther treated him so bad he sold all 5 of his trucks.

I think there are frustrations on both sides as everyone is adapting to a new situation. People are always going to be resistant to change. And of course when it happens, personalities and friction will likely happen to one degree or another. Many are trying to take what they were use to at Conway, and trying to operate in Panthers system. There are too many differences to do that and be successful.
Just the same, I couldn't operate in Conways system as I operate at Panther.
As Bamamule said, the more one understands how they operate, the easier it will get. It is simply a business. If your patience has ran out or can't adapt to how they run, then it is time to seek something else. No one is married to them or any other carrier for that matter.
As for Scott, we have had nothing but positive dealings with him. But to be fair, we don't call screaming or anything like that either. If I don't like the run or location or whatever, I will find my own load. Everyone has that option.

We were Conway-Now drivers, happy and very content with them, thinking that we had found a permanent home. Moving onto Panther, was a great disappointment for us. We're old, and did not want to learn a new company's procedures. Even though we are not receiving all the long runs that we would like, Panther is beginning to earn our respect. (And yes, we know that respect doesn't pay the bills). We were offered a run, and knowing that we would be late, the dispatcher said "get there when you can and drive safe". WOW! What a statement. Never heard that before. Last thursday, we delivered a load in a construction area in downtown Philedelphia. Maneuverability was almost impossible, and following the directions of the crew supervisor, a piece of rebar went into a steer tire. (Here we are, downtown philly, narrow streets, heavy traffic not fun at all.) Of course, he was adamant about not paying for the tire. However, we called Panther and spoke with Shelley. She was informed of what happen and she tooked off from that point. She got a tire repair person there in short order and handled the entire mess from that point on. Thanks to her, the cost of the steer tire is being covered by the company! We would like to Thank Shelley, Kathy and Kevin for their Great assistance. The point of all this is, with this type of good people working with us, we need to revaluate Panther as a company, even if we don't agree with some of the policies. It is not easy to understand a new companys policies and the old ways die hard. We will stay with Panther and hope things will work out for the best. We know that Panther has problems and we think they are working hard to over come them. Only time will tell. We do miss the good people at Conway-Now and wish them all well. :)

I would agree that there are some great people there. Many we have known for a long time. There is always going to be some burps when you add 40 dispatchers all at one time. On that, it takes three months just to get them trained on everything and do it well.

I don't want to beat a dead horse but Conway sold to Panther, not the other way around. Panther isn't obligated to change anything. Why should they? Because Conway sold to them? You can keep your old contract, sign theirs, or move on.
Its a business.
Few companies wouldn't have even bothered to accept your old contract.

Rex is right. Never want to assume to much. Fenway which owns Panther just bought Roadlink USA last week. They have 1500 trucks just by themselves.
